accidental upgrade from unlocked 2G to latest firmware
Hello everyone,
A friend of mine gave his unlocked 1.1.4 (with ziphone) 2G iphone to his brother and he (not knowing) upgraded it to the latest firmware (2.2?) when he plugged it in to iTunes ,and now as all of you know ,he can't call etc ,the phone is working but not reading his simcard, so no network etc..
What is the best thing to do?!
And as for me ,I also have an unlocked 2G ,still on 1.1.4 ,should I upgrade to the latest firmware ,is it worth it?!
Thanx

Defenitely you should upgrade to 2.2.1
Here you have files and the tutorial how to do it!

Ok ,my friend 's phone didn't give any sign/network yesterday morning after succesfully working the days before after the unlock I gave it ,now instead of asking me what might have been the problem ,the logic thing to do for him was a "restore" in iTunes ,and so I guess that the phone now is locked again right?!
should I do the same process again (quickpwn ,etc?!)

Yes
When ever you restore with itunes your going to lose you're Activation, jailbreak & all 3rd party applications you had installed but you shouldn't lose your unlock if you have a 2G phone.
So if you friend has restored with itunes just reapply Quickpwn & you should be ok again.

ok ,tried quickpwn ,said it did it succesfully but the iphone gave a blank screen ,so after 15 min I decide to unplug the phone from the mac ,and I just redid the process with winpwn and the phone is working again ,now the guts to do mine I need :-)
Tanks alot you guys ,if I can return the favour ...
