3gs locked by passcode(not the 4 digits one)
Hi,
I own an iphone 3gs (unlocked),and yesterday a updated from 3.0 to 3.1.2.
I restored and the synced back from itunes.
And now my iphone asks for a Passcode (one with letters not the 4 digit one)
I never set any passwords and i know i can just restore and make a "new iphone"
but then all my calendar, contacts etc will be lost.
Haw do i remove it ?
Haw was it created?
Any advice will be helpful.
Please HELP

It cant just "happen".

Yes outlook/microsoft exchange can set a policy that requires you have a more complex pincode/password.
This is enforced from the server side and although you can temporarily remove the pincode if you can SSH into the iPhone. However the restriction will be reapplied again by the exchange server

Is your iPhone currently connected to a wifi network? Try and find the IP address of your iPhone (Bonjour makes this as simple as knowing the name of the iPhone in iTunes, for example if your iPhone is called iPhone1 in iTunes then you should be able to access it via iPhone1.local, this works great on Mac. Not tested it on windows). Otherwise you can use the arp command to find what devices. Open a command prompt and type once you know the IP address of the iPhone, you can proceed with the following steps.
- Download http://apt.saurik.com/debs/sqlite3_3...honeos-arm.deb to your computer
- Use sftp or scp to copy this file to your iPhone. I suggest you copy it to /tmp/
- SSH into your iphone
- Install the sqlite package you downloaded and copied to your iPhone
Code:
dpkg -i /tmp/sqlite3_3.5.9-12_iphoneos-arm.deb
- Remove the passcode by running this command
Code:
sqlite3 /var/Keychains/keychain-2.db 'delete from genp where acct = "DeviceLockPassword"'
- Run this command to respring your phone so that the removal of the password is detected by the SpringBoard.
Code:
killall SpringBoard
- Launch the mail app and it will prompt you to choose a new passcode before it can check mail from Outlook.
