Use SSH, go to var/root, delete the Media folder and rename the folder Mediaold to Media and you're done.

Use FTP software (like winSCP) on your computer to connect iPhone via WiFi. In FTP connection settings: Host name: (here write your iPhone IP address), Port number: 22, User name: root, Password: alpine.

Once connected go to folder var/root in your iPhone. There is folder named "Media", delete it. Rename folder "Mediaold" to "Media".

You can see your iPhone IP address in iPhone setting page: settings -> general -> about.

I had the similar problem. This is a quicker way to fix it - check out this web site:

    http://code.google.com/p/independence/downloads/list

Download the 300MB Killer file (DMG - Apple Mac only) -

    1) Connect iphone to Mac
    2) Open DMG folder- read instruction
    3) open file
    4) type yes...then it's done !!!..voila....Back to 7.3G

    enjoy...!
