2G: A Battery Question
Hi @ all,
here’s a Iphone-prob and I got no Idea to solve it. Yes, I think, that this Forum is my last hope, before I destroy my Iphone or something else. Sorry for my bad English.
The Iphone:
-2G 8GB, I think from it came from the US
-no idea witch FW was OTB (I hope, this stands for on the box)
-bought on ebay, so there’s no unlocking-history available
-arrived me with 1.1.4 on BL 4.6 in August this year
-now it’s on 2.1 with BL 3.9, unlocked and jailbreaked
-I jailbreaked the phone with Qickpwn on WinXP Pro SP2
What’s good?
-no problems regarding Wi-Fi, Edge-Connectivity, phone-calls and all normal apps
The Problem:
-battery absolutely drains within 6-8 hours. There’s no difference when it stays in standby or when it is used as a cell-phone for calling and sometimes checking my mail-accounts. Even when it’s put in airplane-mode, the battery will drain in the same time.
-with this problem, most of the “normal” tips like “turn of Wi-Fi” or “deactivate push” take no effect
-the temperature of the top-site is not cold, as on a normal 2G. When You charge a normal 2G, it will get a little bit warm. My phone holds this temperature even when its not plugged to charge.
What have I tried without a result (with BL 4.6)
-removed all 3rd-party apps
-every available possible Idea of deactivating functionality like Wi-Fi etc.
-many restores with and without setting up as a new phone
-restore and unlock/jailbreak with Cydia & Installer
-restore and unlock only with Installer
-restore and unlock only with Cydia
-restore and unlock without Cydia and Installer
-restore without unlock and jailbreak
-deactivate SSH via BossPrefs
-wall-jack-charging
-usb-charging
-3rd party wall-jack
-charging in car
-different sim-cards of different providers
-installing provider-settings
-extremely long charging-periods (48 hours)
-putting the phone in fridge for 10 mins
After this missings, I thought, that the hardware must be the reason. But I think I was wrong:
2 weeks ago, I was just ending a call. I recognized that the phone was cold. Ok for me, even when I didn’t know why. After that, the battery doesn’t drain for 3 complete days. I was really happy. But after 1 time charging, the battery drains poor as usual.
After that, a software-bug, a wrong setting or a poor jailbreak is back on the list of possible reasons. The Bootloader-files and the firmware 2.1 for Qickpwn seems to be ok, because I used them to unlock and jailbreak a 1.1.1-Iphone for a friend last weekend.
I read about flashing the BL. I flashed the BL back to 3.9 with bootneuter, but after unlocking and jailbreaking my Phone the battery-drain is still there.
And now, here’s the question of the questions:
Is there anyone with more Ideas? Is deleting the BL a possibility? Is a possible usage of Zipphone in the past a possible reason?
Regards,
Atom

Yes, I thought about this. But why reached the phone a one-time usage of 3 days without any charging 2 weeks ago?

Are there no ideas to solve my problem?

I'm a bit confused... I know maybe... 10 or so people with iphones, and no one's battery every lasts more than a day. hell, more than 10 hours. Mine is discharging from 7am and I get a "20%" warning around 7pm.. Always been that way.. yet, I leave wifi on, ssh off, edge on, push every 15min, and use it to listen to music all day lol
