Default [2g 1.1.4 -> 2.0.1] Upgraded firmware, old 3rd party apps causing issues?

I recently upgraded the firmware on my 2g iPhone from 1.1.4 to 2.0.1 following this excellent tutorial:

How to Update iPhone Firmware 1.1.4 to 2.0.1 via WinPwn (VIDEO)!

I did not uninstall any of the third party apps that I had installed previously before the upgrade. I think some of the system-related apps still have a presence in the file system and may be causing some conflicts.

For example, I installed one tool (can't remember the name, had a girls name in it) that allowed me to change what was displayed in the carrier name. Now even though the icon for the app is no longer there, the carrier name still says what I had set it to before whereas it should be showing the actual carrier name if the app had been completely wiped.

A few days ago I had a problem where my phone would not respond to anything, no combinations of button presses, not plugging it into a pc or a mac or an outlet. I thought it was bricked, but two days after it stopped responding to anything, it magically came back to life when I plugged it in to an outlet.

I have a feeling some of the 3rd party stuff from 1.1.4 didn't get cleaned and is not causing conflicts. How can I go about troubleshooting this and cleaning out the file system of any files that may be left over from apps I installed while on 1.1.4?

ok just DFU restor to 2.2 and run quickpwn to unlock(windows version)/activate/jailbreak. If ur on a mac, then use quickpwn to jailbreak/activate and bootneuter from cydia to unlock. This should fix ur issues

    cheers

P.S look into this forum for guides on how-to DFU restore and unlock/activate/jailbreak using quickpwn if u don't know how to.

edit: do not restore the backup made by itunes when ur done restoring the phone
