1.1.2 OTB --> 1.1.1 --> Jailbreak --> 1.1.2 --> Jailbreak --> Turbosim with Claro (Brasil) --> 1.1.3 via iTunes --> Ziphone --> Battery Drain problem --> WinPwn to 1.1.4 --> Bootneuter back to 4.6 BL (still with battery drain problem) --> Lived with that for some time --> Restored to 2.1 --> Unlocked with Bootneuter (dead wifi, sometime don't receive calls, crazy clock) --> Sick with this iPhone (will buy a Black Bery next year)
Replaced SMS ringtone
I have started a new thread here
I think people get pissed off if you cut and paste huge chunks of text so upload the stuff to rapidshare or filesharing site.
I have mentioned some other files also in my post pls include them also clearlly mention if its working or non working files. And your firmware.
I have the same problem here. The iPhone doesn't find the networks anymore after upgrading from 1.02 to 2.2 firmware.
I see too many people having a similar issue for it to be a co-incidence..
I use a 2G iphone on v2.1
Wifi used to work perfectly uptill now. Now i can rarely find the wifi networks and if i do i cant connect to my router. Sometimes on repeated restarting, the wifi comes greyed out as "no wifi" but disappears on restart. If by chance i do get connected to my router, i am able to use wifi perfectly till the time the phone goes into sleep. Then the battle starts again
To compound the problem, i face a new problem, when in sleep 90% of my calls as missed calls wherein the callers say that they were able to hear the phone ring completely but i do not get any indication. Furthermore all the missed calls show the time when the phone comes off sleep.
Really really tired of this.....any help would be highly appreciated....
the 169.x problem is common.
THe only two fixes for that
b. Mod your ipconfig plist file and increase the number of DHCP tries and the time out. You can also specify if you want a 169 address assigned or not when your on DHCP. If you say no it will just fail.
A new com board can be had for 80$
I am going to try replacing mine.
All the issues are to do with the iphone not able to switch power modes. Read my post on kernel msg debug loging. Its unable to wake the wifi or the coms board.
The wake on icming call is also a plist file which could be corupted but if a restore dont fix it then just change your coms board.
Im geting a Nokia Express and a Blackberry storm for the same price of a new 3G.
No gueses for which phone I will never buy again.
This being my pet obsesion Ive been reading up on it going back to the very early days.
All the problems seem to be related to some attempt to hack or mod the phone.
People where loosing wifi way back in 1.x i.e. even two versions before 1.1.4
And it keeps going.
Ive also had a chat with the support guys at both the providers who sell offical phones here. And they have not had a single phone come in with the wifi problem.
So what is it that is happening during a hack / Jailbreak that is taking out the wifi.
It would seem large number of people loose wifi. A smaller number of people loose wifi + Bluetooth and a even smaller number loose voice also.
From the stats Ive seen yes offical customers have also reported this problem i.e. some AT&T customer have reported this problem but the % is very small and my gut tells me they have tried jailbreaking lost wifi so gone the virgin route and are not asking apple to deal with the problem.
If somebody who have more knowledge on the subject like one of the dev team guys should write a small note on the dangers of Jailbreaking how the wifi / bluetooth and voice can be lost. And why swifi does not fix all phones.
This is not a blame game. Just a request for some honesty.
If I was told ok you have a 10% chance of loosing xyz functions going down this route then I can make the call and face the music.
What is even more scarry is that I have purchased a new 3G. And there are guys with 3G who have just jailbroken and reporting wifi issues.
After all the time Ive spent chasing this problem on my phone and other with the same problem. I have a gut feeling that it not hardware. And that there is a software solution that can fix this problem.
Just back from a iphone user club meet.
There where a whole lot of guys with week 40 and 50 phones who are all on firmware 1.1.4 unclocked with zip phone. they never upgraded. And not one of them had any issues.
In fact I did a quick survey uptill 2.0.2 i.e. the last version sported by pawnage issues where rare to nill.
Only those on firmware after 2.0.2 had issues with the phone. Same as my case problem started after upgrading to 2.1
But as my earlier post stated people where having issues way back as 1.x
Im starting to see the logic of Vodophone India. i.e. they will note down the version on the phone when it is sold to you. And if you upgrade your warranty is void. (As told to me by the sales manager at Vodophone).
Of all the guys who where legit not a single guys had any issues. Then again legit where only 3G boys.

Just in case - take a look here...
Wow man, you did a great job by finding those problems. I am sure some people who are working on iphone development will will look after it. Keep more updates on.
