I have the same probleem!!My iphone was working just great when i was at 1.1.1 but after the 2.2 update WIFI stopped working ... At first it conected and disconnected and now it doesnt connect at all

Well, mine has been bought in a NYC's AppleStore by a friend who bought also one for him, but the AT&T cards has never been activated (we live in France). My friend's iPhone had a screen problem and he tried to use the warranty (in USA) but they says at the apple store that because the AT&T account is not acitvated they can't repair under warranty... So i guess we're fucked up :/

Hi, I am having the same problem too, I got this gold plated iphone 2g on ebay. When I got it, I put it in the dfu mode and uploaded 2.1. Then I quickpawned it, it is unlocked and everything but wifi was working better in 2.1, than it is now with 2.2.

After I restart it 4-5 times, It connects to wifi networks.

Does anyone has any solution? Or do u guys know why it is not connecting?

Yes, we are. I am really thinking about a BlackBerry. My friend has one and he's always connected. I am not happy anymore.

I didn't get it. Do you have wifi or not? No matter how many times I restart the iPhone, I don't get Wifi. Unless the iPhone wants it, then I get it regardless of restarting the phone or not.

Right now we don't have a clue why is this happening. Search the forum and you'll see some claim to be a hardware problem.

I can turn wifi on and off, 90% of the time it will list all the networks and 90% of the time it will not connect to them.

I restart the phone several times, and it connects... If it connects everything will work until it goes to sleep...

Be ready to pull your battery out almost daily. My black berry was like that and most of my friends as well. Mine was actually every couple of days and I didn't have anything extra installed on it. Until I found the Opera browser, best mod for the BB phones.
I started having issues with my wifi a few weeks after I upgraded to fw 2.2 on a 3G iphone but with 2.1 (2.11) baseband. This is a November phone. Note: Apple store replaced my August phone for touchscreen issues, even though they new it was hacked. Talk about great customer service .
My wife's iphone is still on 2.1 w/ 2.1 baseband and hers connects without issues. It's not a big deal though, because 3G in Japan is fast as fack. I was using cTorrent and was downloading at over 2megs a sec.

When I get home, I'm going to restore my phone into 2.2fw with 2.2 baseband (2.28). Then I'll yellowsnow it and see how all fares out. Hopefully wifi will be back to normal.

Honestly, I can't go without an iphone anymore. I tried when I moved back to Japan. I bought a Japanese phone and couldn't handle all the restrictions in place. Gave the phone to my wife and reserved my iPhone (Early July). When I went to purchase it, my wife took it and said you already have an iPhone (2g, cell doesn't work in Japan though). I waited about a month before getting my 3G. $700 is hard to swallow, let alone $1400 at one sitting. I just couldn't do it Luckily I get $20 back every month per phone for the first 2 years I'm with the company. Paying all the money up front enabled me to be on a month to month contract. I don't like being stuck with a crappy company. I was stuck with Sprint/Nextel for 2 years and I never want to be in that situation again.

Well, I spoke to my friend and he said his Blackberry battery doesn't last more than one day. So far no big deal as I have to recharge my iPhone every night.

I love the iPhone but not being able to connect to Wifi networks or not receiving 90% of the incoming calls is definitely no good deal.

I think Ive pretty close to cracking the problem.

One thing is for sure.
a. its not a hardware problem.

To figure out the last bit I need the plist files from /private/var/prefrences/systemconfiguration/

Question now is who is over writing this plist file.

Or which apps access as in create or mod these plist files.

If somebody could upload a zip of their plist files from a working 2.1 or latter phone I can figure it out.
