    Default 2.1 iphone downgrade

    Hi Chaps...

I am trying to downgrade my iphone from the latest update to allow me to unlock it and jailbreak it..

I have downloaded a custom firmware and tried to restore using itunes 8 but keep getting "the iphone could not be restored, an unknown error occured (6)

I have tried diffrent usb ports... I have tried diffrent firmware versions..

    Any ideas???

I also have another iphone on v1.1.4.. is there any way that I can read the firmware from that and then restore it onto my 2.1 iphone..

    Thanks in advance

    ASH

Step 1. Do a restore to 2.1 from apple online server through itune 8.0
Step 2. Using QuickPwn 2.1.0 do custom ipsw of 2.1 and follow the restore instruction
Step 3. then do a custom 2.0.2 using PwnageTool 2.0.2 and follow the restore instruction. That works for me but if u using an 3g the modern firmware change from 01:45:00 to 02:11:07

Well it would help if you told us what model the 2.1 firmware phone is. If it is the 3G model - then you cannot downgrade below 2.0 and there is no unlock for it.

Your 1.1.4 is obviously the 2G model which can be upgraded to 2.1 and still remain unlocked - however it wont be jailbroken. So to get jailbreak and unlock on that phone - you need to use qiuckpwn/winpwn
1st Gen. 8GB 2.0.2 Working on Vodafone (UK), Orange (UK), LUXGSM (Luxembourg) and Dialog GSM (Sri Lanka).

No. of iPhones unlocked on 1.1.3 FW: Nobody cares!
No. of iPhones unlocked on 1.1.4 FW: Nobody cares!

    :p

Sorry... it is a 2g iphone..

And I wouldn't mind having it jailbroken as I do like some of the applications..

Also, can someone tell me where I can download the firmware that I need???

I have got as far as restoring to 2.1 from apple online server through itune 8.0
And and next I have got to do is Step 2. Using QuickPwn 2.1.0 do custom ipsw of 2.1 and follow the restore instruction

and now my iphone just shows the apple logo (boot screen)

Is this correct up to now???.. All I need now is the other firmware if someone can point me in the right direction..

    Thanks

    ASH
