Hi there,

my 2.1 iphone 2G is always giving me an application crash if i try to type german "Umlaute" like ö ü ä. This happens in every program, such as SMS, notes ...
As soon as i hold my finger on a,o or u for just a little longer, the program crashes.
All other keys are still working and i can select the secondary function.
Does anybody have a solution for this ? Restore didn't help, crashing again as soon as I use my backup.

Just dont use the backup. restore to 2.1 then as soon as itunes is asking if you want to restore from a backup, dont choose it, choose "setup as a new iphone" instead.
Then sync.

If you want ur sms, use disk aid or something to back them up. Then, restore to 2.1 and set the iPhone as new.
Once done, jailbreak it and copy the backed up databases back to where they belong and you'll have them.
Sync the iPhone and hope it works.
Dunno why ppl are facing lots of problems with 2.1 though.. I find it to be much better!
