[2.1.0] How to exit DFU mode
Hey there.
this morning after a reboot my iphone (2G) stuck and kept showing the quickpwn logo (or the apple logo if not pwned).
Anyway I was holding power+home button, then released the power and kept pushing home, so my iphone went into recovery mode!!! (and now I've got uncle Steve with some russian stuff in my iphone's screen)
Is there anyway I can get out of it instead of restoring???
PS: I have windows and when I connect to iTunes it says:
iTunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this iphone before it can be used with itunes
thanks

At least when in DFU, you can try pressing the power button or both the home and power (don't remember exactly which) for a few seconds and it will reboot like nothing have happened. I would guess the same works for restore mode.

Getting out of Recovery and DFU modes
Here's the advice QuickPwn gives when it sees your phone is in recovery mode (with the Connect to iTunes logo):
- Hold down Home and Power buttons for 15 seconds
- Then release Home, but hold Power for two more seconds (sort-of the opposite of what you'd do to get into DFU mode)
It got my phone out of recovery mode! I had it connected to the computer, with iTunes not running and with QuickPwn running (Windows). (But maybe those things aren't required.)
By the way, you get an iPhone out of DFU mode by holding Home and Power for as long as it takes before it simply reboots. This will work if a restore hasn't been started yet.

iPhone 3GS / 3.1.2 JB (PwnageTool) / 04.26.08 carrier-locked, Carrier Logo Fixer / Cydia / 1000 posts on Hackint0sh
Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.
Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
* on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
* on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

check out iRecovery, build it, and use
./iRecovery -s
it will spawn a shell with ur iPhone bootloader and u can just send the command
fsboot
and wait a minute and it will boot

You can exit mode by pressing power and home together for 5 secs.
