    Default [2.0][VPN] Proxy settings?

    Where'd the VPN proxy settings go in 2.0? It's completely useless

    And another thing, where's the usage function of the old firmwares? I'm starting to think 2.0 was a downgrade to me..

    To reply to my own post, I've poked Apple about the issue, as I was going to advercate the iphone in my company, but in it's current state I just can't, since it wont be able to use our VPN without the proxy option.
    I'll let anyone know if THE GREAT BIG APPLE decides to bow down and talk to a mortal...

    And now, since apparantly noone else figured out it, I did myself.
    Edit /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/Preferences.plist using notepad or whatever.
    Search for "vpn" and above it add this:

    <key>Proxies</key>
    <dict>
    <key>HTTPEnable</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>HTTPPort</key>
    <integer>8080</integer>
    <key>HTTPProxy</key>
    <string>your proxy</string>
    <key>HTTPProxyAuthenticated</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>HTTPProxyType</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>HTTPProxyUsername</key>
    <string>username</string>
    <key>HTTPSEnable</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>HTTPSPort</key>
    <integer>8080</integer>
    <key>HTTPSProxy</key>
    <string>your proxy</string>
    <key>HTTPSProxyUsername</key>
    <string>username</string>
    <key>HTTPSProxyAuthenticated</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>ProxyAutoConfigEnable</key>
    <integer>0</integer>
    </dict>

    That'll enable a proxy via VPN. Now I just wish someone could write an app to do this directly on the phone..

    Do you do this after you have set the vpn up on the iphone?

    As when i searched for VPN in the file Preferences.plist there was no mention; so i created the connection on the iphone then searched for VPN and the only vpn found was from my vpn server name (ivpn.ncl.ac.uk) is that correct?

    Thanks mate think i have it sorted under the vpn settings was :-

    <key>Proxies</key>
    <dict>
    <key>FTPPassive</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    </dict>

    so i changed it to :-

    <key>Proxies</key>
    <dict>
    <key>FTPPassive</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>HTTPEnable</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>HTTPPort</key>
    <integer>8080</integer>
    <key>HTTPProxy</key>
    <string>your proxy</string>
    <key>HTTPProxyAuthenticated</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>HTTPProxyType</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>HTTPProxyUsername</key>
    <string>username</string>
    <key>HTTPSEnable</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>HTTPSPort</key>
    <integer>8080</integer>
    <key>HTTPSProxy</key>
    <string>your proxy</string>
    <key>HTTPSProxyUsername</key>
    <string>username</string>
    <key>HTTPSProxyAuthenticated</key>
    <integer>1</integer>
    <key>ProxyAutoConfigEnable</key>
    <integer>0</integer>
    </dict>

    And it was worked for the external vpn and will try the internal one tomorrow.

    Also i used DiskAid to copy the file from the iphone then edited the file with wordpad and used Diskaid to put it back on the iphone no need for SSH.

    But it does not support proxy server authentication.
    Touch Dial is an easy-to-use application for one touch dial / sms icon on the home screen for iPhone.

    This app can read the accelerometer and do phone dial or SMS dial for the same number based on the your setting for Portrait or Landscape Mode of iPhone.
