[2.0][VPN Cisco] Troubles setting it up in corporate environment
Ok, in my company we use Mutual Group Authentication in the Cisco VPN connection (IPSec).
I can obtain all required info as shown below:
Connection entry (I can see and copy-paste it) = Description ?
Host (I can see and copy-paste it) = Server ?
Name (I can see and copy-paste it) = Group Name ?
Passwd (decoded via .pcf file from here: http://www.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/~massar/bin/cisco-decode ) = Secret ?
But the VPN at work is configured to have the user enter his password each time he connects. So when I hit "VPN-ON" in the iPhone it tries to login (Status: Starting...), but then gives me error:
The VPN server did not respond
PS. I can log into the VPN from my laptop no problem of course.

i'm kind of in the same boat as you i've been poking around with my 2G phone from home and been trying to authenticate via the VPN and haven't had any luck. Keep me posted and i'll keep you posted if i get anywhere with it!

I got the same reply when I used the beta 2.0 firmwares. With the official one, I used the Apple iPhone config tool, and VPN connects.
However, I still can't access internal resources. I'm hunting down the issue now.
For your issue - you don't have certificate requirements on your VPN, do you?
May it be that it has something to do with using the iPhone Cisco Client behind a NAT-Router? I have the following constellation: On my Macbook I have a Cisco VPN Client which I use to connect to my work from home, and from the wireless LAN within my company, which works perfectly even when I am behind a NAT-Router at home.
When at work, where I get a private IP from my company I am able to connect to the VPN by using the iPhone Cisco VPN client. Again, when I am home, behind the NAT-Router, the connection with the iPhone doesn't work.
The profiles are for both conditions, at home, and from WLAN within my company, the same. The only difference there is, that at home I am behind a NAT-Router, and at work I am not.
