Wasn't that already known?
I've seen a screenshot with a blue dot on a map which shows current position.

Still don't know if the phone itself will have GPS built in, or if it will work with a bluetooth GPS receiver.

It's kind of an advanced Google Location service started with beta 2.0 (5a225c). i am based in Hamburg, Germany where Skyhook Wireless (Apples partner in using Google Locate via Wi-Fi) did an excellent job. Using my test iphone with beta 2.0 (5a225c) on it here, while you are walking you hit the Google Locate button and get a pulsating circle that turns into a blue dot representing your location. while you are moving the dot moves along on the map with you. Relies completely on Wi-Fi around you and if skyhook has your location already scanned and in it's database.

Even though this isn't really rock solid proof, I would say that it is pretty safe to assume that a future iPhone will have GPS. There is really no practicality in live tracking with such bad accuracy, so it really only seems to be a proof of concept, that the maps app is ready for a live feed of location information.
