I'm looking for something like this as well...

I've been unable to locate anything in Cydia that will allow me to disable the EDGE radio... Hopefully something comes up, or Installer 4 comes out so we can install BossPrefs.

As a workaround To disable EDGE, you can change the account setting for now.

Select Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network

There you can change your APN from xxxx to say xxxx-deact

When the Entry for "Cellular Data Network" does not appear, your provider has disabled editing of the EDGE setting. These can be activated again the same way as on 1.1.4 by editig carrier.plist.

Do you know of a decent tutorial on how to edit these files?

Okay guys got a fix to turn off data... This page was found by Spydi over at HowardForums...

From your iPhone on WIFI, go to the following website:

    http://www.unlockit.co.nz/

Follow the instructions... Works great, I've tested... I can no longer connect to the internet via EDGE.

i thought adam's method was working, safari didn't load the pages on edge, but when i checked the usage of edge, it increased by 1,8 MB. i don't think this method is very efficient. is there another way?

I would think that data was accumulated prior to activating this method...

I've tested, and I cannot get any data to work while this is active... Safari, Maps, Stocks, YouTube, etc... nothing will connect, and no data is showing on my data counter.

Reset your statistics, and try to load up your applications again... if it does not connect you are not using data...

    Hope this helps.
