So I followed some hints in other/older threads pointing to the Bootloader. I already had 4.6, so that was not re-flashed by Bootneuter when upgrading to 2.0.
So my vague chance was to flash down to 3.9 and up to 4.6 again
    1. If your phone isn't experiencing slowness, ignore the threads that are talking about it. Many phones are going slower. Mine was. A fresh image w/o Cydia, and without Push et al, fixed my issue.

    2. Where did the rumor that Cydia for 2.0 is standalone come from? It installs the BSD subsystem too, which does the following:
    Code:
Puts Cydia.app in the /Applications folder
Puts 55 files in the /bin folder
More files and folders in /etc
    Creates folders in /Library
    Adds files to /sbin
Adds a RUN AT LOAD to /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
Adds more items than you can shake a stick at in /usr
A handful of items in /var

Then goes through and changes owner or permissions on:
    var/local
    usr/bin/ping
    usr/bin/passwd
    usr/bin/rsh
    usr/bin/rlogin
    usr/bin/login
    usr/bin/rcp
    bin/su
That's out of the box, without any updates. Haven't checked what the updates do. Most of this is probably pretty self contained, but myself and others are experiencing slow phones. If installing 2.0 w/o Cydia fixes it for us, well then good for us. It's not nonsense. I'd consider Cydia beta software right now - the author is very intelligent, but some mistakes slip through.

    3. Anyone wishing to follow advice, DON'T CHANGE YOUR BOOTLOADER! Don't believe me? Fine - do some research though. Find out why ZiPhone was so criticized. Hint - it was because it flashed the bootloader, and even Apple doesn't do this because it can turn your phone into a brick. As BigBoss says, 9 times out of 10 it works. But on that 10th time...

I find it highly entertaining that your post contains both "advice" that Cydia and SSH can't possibly slow down your phone, and further "advice" that changing your bootloader will help. I hope no one follows your advice. Restoring an iPhone without Cydia is much, much less risky than flashing your bootloader. I really hope others will at least try restoring without Cydia before attempting messing with the bootloader.

    iRobie,

you have some good points. I also wouldn't recommend just anyone to flash the bootloader. But all the links you mention are regarding the problems with ziphone - none about BootNeuter.
But of course, a simple restore w/o cyida instead of flashing the BL is less riski.

And regarding cydia: of course it ADDS a lot of files and unix tools to the phone. But that doesn't do anything to performance as long as no existing files are changed or functions that the iPhone system or stock apps use.
Only thing I just checked was what is launched by LaunchCtl at startup. I didn't see that before and it doesn't really show what it does. However, it seems to be just a thing run at startup. In the running system there's no addtional / 3rd party process (except maybe for the currently running app).

And however, I do believe you if you say w/o Cydia it's better... just can't see a reason why.

I'm not really even clear on why we would want Installer or Cydia anymore now that the app store exists. are there going to be a lot of apps of any value we could use from installer that got rejected from the app store?

Personally, I hate bloatware on my computer, and I hate when my phone acts sluggish. I won't install anything that even has a chance to slow things down. Cydia sounds like an easy decision to me: leave it out!

Ok, So I created a new package Without Cyder

But i still have the same slow loading and laging
takes ages to take photo's etc

I tried these apps directly after the restore, before it had a chance to restore any backups or sync or anything like that.

    hmmmmmmm...........

how hard is it to go back to 1.1.4

That's what I'm saying.... shouldn't have to do anything with cydia. Maybe there are some other conditions DIFFERENT when you rebuild the ipsw file and restore your phone and then have better results....

Instead of disabling Cydia, which I don't believe has much fault in the sluggishness, try disabling the "Disable partition wipe" option when you build your ipsw.

Both of my installations were without Cydia, but the first one was performed with the partition wipe disabled and led to a laggy system, the second one (with the wipe enable) led to a somewhat stabler system, even though sometimes the phone still acts weird.

I'm actually going to try enabling Cydia in my next restore.

Firmware 2.0 got issues. Most likely memory management issues. It's been reported all over the net. Find a comprehensive list of known issues here:

    http://news.metaparadigma.de/?p=389

The only thing that helps: REBOOT once in a while and wait for Apple to release 2.1.
