I too have the same slow down.. thought i was crazy

Visiting a friend with 1.1.4, tried opening calendar at the same time... defiantly a noticeable delay between 2.0 and 1.1.4 (Damn them moving the today button too!!!!)
    Same with the camera app.
    same with the settings

The phone app appears to be ok and opens at the same speed on both phones.

Is it anything to do with pwnage or is it just the firmware has bloated apps and not as optimized for speed as before?

Has anyone tried running the new slow apps on 1.1.4 to see if they are still slow. or are the apps not backwards compatible.

I restored my iPhone with just Tzones and without Cydia, and it was a lot snappier. I actually forgot how snappy it was. You can find out how to do that in this thread.

Also, I'm trying out a number of configurations to see what's causing my battery issues. I know that with a freshly restored iPhone, without Cydia or SSH, I get good battery life. With lots of crap, I get bad battery life. So I'm trying to hunt down what is bad. That's going on in this thread. I start comparing stuff on page 6 or 7, but others mention the same thing you're experiencing.

I didn't install cydia and my keyboard was laggy sometimes.
I was making some tests about battery life and upgraded to
bootloader 4.6. Since then, keyboard is not laggy anymore.

Yeah it's really a lot slower. Mind you this is my second iPhone and although in principle the same as the first I've always thought it was not as performant.

I am experiencing the same slowness. IT takes world of time in doing everything.

I really think, its Apple's irritating business policies to make old customers buy iPhone 3G. Why the heck, after taking so many months and doing research before releasing 2.0, does it have to be slow????

Wish they release a update soon.

    Cheers,

my is definately slower... sometimes the volume slider is unresponsive for a few seconds in ipod/pandora unless i let it "load" for a couple of seconds.. also if I get a call and try to answer it, the slider kind of hangs for awhile and the phone keeps ringing even though im trying to answer it. I have been told that it is because I restored my contacts/settings from a pre2.0 backup and that i should start from scratch but I dont want to re-enter all my contacts

Sorry, but that's nonsense. Cydia has nothing to do with a slow responsiveness of the whole iPhone or keyboard or anything else - because there's nothing running in the background. So it can't slow down the system! Same with SSH. That's NOT running in the background (even if enabled). It's just a switch in the always running comm center, so no additional payload or battery stress unless you are really *connected* with a SSH session!

I have Cydia and lots of 3rd party and appstore apps and absolutely no problem with speed or responsiveness. It's the same as in 1.1.4.

However, I have SOLVED my battery issues! I also had like 50% less battery life since 2.0 and even with push, location services and "ask to join wlan" switched OFF no reasonable better.
So I followed some hints in other/older threads pointing to the Bootloader. I already had 4.6, so that was not re-flashed by Bootneuter when upgrading to 2.0.
So my vague chance was to flash down to 3.9 and up to 4.6 again (because Bootneuer won't flash w/o changes) and BAMMMMM - I'm back to having left 50% battery after 18hrs. Yesterday this time the battery was EMPTY (also after 18hrs).

So that's not only "kind of better" - it's really a HUGE difference! My only guess is that BL and baseband needs to be flashed when upgrading, no matter whether you already had that version. IMHO I don't even believe that it's the BL but the baseband, because that's the only thing that makes sense as it's the one thing using up power for the communications.

    Cheers,
    Kerry.

Misunderstanding: "start from scratch" only means not to use the iTunes BACKUP from the old version (you're asked to restore this after the FW restore). You can of course still SYNC all the contacts/calendar/bookmarks everything with iTunes (with your MAC apps or Outlook or whatever on a PC). So there's no need to "re-enter" all data...

    Hope that helps. :hack:

the problem i was having was that itunes wouldnt let me sync with outlook unless i restored from a previous backup.. using yahoo seems to be a fix, will try that when i get home
