[2.0.1] Cant convert plist to text
I am trying this site
http://140.124.181.188/~khchung/cgi-bin/plutil.cgi
to convert Springboard.strings to texts but all I get is a 0KB file. And all I get is gibberish text if I open it without converting. And one more question. Can I use a 1.1.4 or earlier Springboard.plist file for 2.0.1? Any help guys?
EDIT: IF you are wondering why I am editing the springboard.springs file, its because I want to make my slider at the lock screen totally transparent. The Slider, The frame that holds the slider and the "slide to Unlock" text. Editing the springboard.springs file gets rid of the text.

Soul, you may have better luck with this: http://iappcat.com/plist/bin2xml
Used last night, worked like a charm both ways -- plist to text and back to plist. When it converts the file it renames it to something like binary.plist.html -- just make sure you rename it back to its original name and extension!

Thanks me. That worked perfect! And is there a way to hide the slider? I found this:
System/Library/Frameworks/TelephonyUI.framework/ and delete the file "bottombarknobgray.png"
But I cant find TelephonyUI.framework in 2.0.1. Anyway, rep for you!!
Nevermind, found it. Its in privateframeworks. All I have to do now is to hide the damn clock and date lol.

Thanks for the rep point! I have never messed with the slider files, so I can't help with this one, sorry. Try looking for missing folder under PrivateFrameworks not Frameworks just in case...

Editing plist files
There is an easier way then using the webservices. Mac users can use Property List Editor (from Developers Tool, Mac OS X DVD). Windows users can go another easy way.
You need the free application EditPad Lite (Notepad wont work). Get EditPad Lite here
http://www.editpadlite.com/editpadlite.html.
Download the plist file you want to edit to your PC and edit the suffix from *.plist to *.plist.txt. Start EditPad Lite and edit the file to meet your needs. After saving and finishing re-edit the suffix from *.plist.txt to *.plist and you are set.
This does not work with Windows Notepad app, use EditPad Lite.
Hope that helps

Using that editor only allows you to edit plists which have already been converted to text. As for binary plist, I just install perl on my system and use the perl script.

Thats not true. After renaming to *.plist.txt EditPad Lite opens the file, let you edit the values/add/delete and then save. After that you save and have to edtit the filename again to *.plist.
