    What !?!?

all the iphones; ALL can be jailbroken. Even the 1.1.3 OOB

    Go to: http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dgzw9xs_0gfhxns&pli=1

And you find a table, see the last column (1.1.3 OOB) Jailbreak - YES !

You can use the new 16Gb as an itouch and wait for a proper activation to be release.

    That's it.

There seems to be a confusion of downgrading the OS and downgrading the baseband.

1.1.3OTB has the latest baseband and BL 4.6, so until the next baseband those phones cannot have their bootloader downgraded by the HW method (no sw method, yet).

Still, the 16G may have some hw differences and even the hw BL downgrade may not be possible (maybe "TA style" by removing the flash chip)

    Time will tell

So I can downgrade my T-mobile Germany iPhone, that has never been jailbroken before, jailbreak it, upgrade to 1.1.3 again and activate it?

If you can legally activate it, why not!

You can downgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreakme.com, upgrade to 1.1.2, jailbreak and then soft-upgrade to 1.1.3.

Then just place your valid German t-mobile SIM card and it will work.

Okay.............I guess I am an a-hole too (btw I was only saying that because everyone is so snippy here)

I read over the links. Looks like it is possible according to those.

I wonder why everyone is saying it can't be done?

Perhaps the iPhone status document are confusing people? (i think it's confusing anyway) http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dgzw9xs_0gfhxns
It says jailbreaking is possible, but at the same time, activating is not.
I guess it means you can jailbrake 1.1.3, but you will have to downgrade before activating

I decided to go and buy a 16GB for testing (somebody reimburse me). It does, in fact, jailbreak properly and run on approved networks. Unlocking efforts are still underway, so I wouldn't worry too much about unlocking.
