[1.1.x] baseband corrupted
I just got an iphone from a friend and it seems the baseband is corrupted, these are the symptoms:
iPhone 8GB unlcoked ANYSYM 1.1, firmware 1.1.1 BL 3.9 MODEM 4.01.13G when trouble began, now it was upgraded to 1.1.2 BL3.9 MODEM 4.02.13, still the same results
1. Super Slow booting
2. Once you get to the "Slide to unclock" screen it freezes no more response
this iphone was unlocked with anysim 1.1 and was working perfectly until we got it back in this freezing state.
we have tried full restore to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 to no avail, although the phone accepts the restore, after it is done, same freezing.
we have come to conclide the basebando somehow got corrupted (assumption only) if we had SSH we might be able to get in a stop the Commcenter, but we do not have. I have tried IPHUC but my knowledge on it i very limited, I'm more used to the SSH and regular tools than using IPHUC which is the only tool that has been able to establish a reliable communication with the unit (although we do not know what to do with it)
if somehow we could download the launchdaemons plist, edit it so commcenter does not start, than we could get out of the freezing stage and be able to "virginize" or downgrade or fully replace the baseband.
than maybe we can procceed with a clean baseband.
Any suggetioons are welcome, this is the first time we get a phone in this operational stage, most other small troubles with iPhone are clear simply by retoring or re-installing a few programs. This one is completely resilient to restore, and it seems to freeze as soon as the commcenter starts, the searching for network appears and it freezes.
Once it freezzes, that's is no access of any kind to it, other than IPHUC
thank in advance for any suggestions.

Okay, I've never heard of that too, but here's what I would do:
-restore to 1.0.2
-use ibrickr to remove the commcenter plist.
If the problem is the Comm Center as you are thinking, this will solve the problem and the phone will boot again, then we can think in a fix depending on the exact problem...

i use a MAC so ibrickr is no good, any hints on mac side. (if not I can always try to get my hands on ibrickr on a PC)
thanks

Well, if you use Mac, you should try iFuntastic. Found this version that has file browsing, I don't know if it works on 1.1.1, so you should restore to 1.0.2 first

yes i reviewed ibrickr and it seems to do the same as iFuntastic, was already downloading it to check it out. I will post as soon as I can confirm it can connect to the phone and able to delete de services.plist or equivalent to stop the commcenter.
thanks

services.plist ?
To disable comm center, delete: System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
