    Hey,

I just updated from 1.1.3 (ziPhone 2.4) to 1.1.4 (ziPhone 2.5c). The phone was 1.0.2 whe purchased.

I have to say, the Safari Caching is something I wanted, because I rely on my iPhone for a lot of web surfing. The ability to have multiple windows open without refreshing everytime I ignore one for more than minute is very good.

Also, 1.1.3 had some awful bug that made the cell signal weaker. I heard that was fixed in 1.1.4, so fewer dropped calls is also a reason.

wait! so does upgrading to 1.1.4 also upgrade the bootloader from 3.9 (for those of us on that) to 4.6? I thought the bootloader doesn't get upgraded even if the firmware does? So basically those of us on 3.9 - always get 3.9.

    I'm currently running 1.1.3 / 3.9BL
1st Gen. 8GB 2.0.2 Working on Vodafone (UK), Orange (UK), LUXGSM (Luxembourg) and Dialog GSM (Sri Lanka).

No. of iPhones unlocked on 1.1.3 FW: Nobody cares!
No. of iPhones unlocked on 1.1.4 FW: Nobody cares!

    :p

No. Currently there is no way to upgrade from BL3.9 to 4.6, even if you wanted to.

Currently, BL3.9 gives us more freedom then 4.6. How ever, we can load custom Bootloaders from 4.6, but not 3.9. The potential for a custom Bootloader could mean even more freedom then 3.9.

Although technically, Apple could force an upgrade of our Bootloader for any future OS Firmware updates, but as this is a very risky process (playing with BL's) it may not be in their best interest, as it could create a lot of unhappy customers (genuine ones) with bricked phones. (vice versa, Apple may not be able to upgrade the BL via software methods, for the same reason we can't either).

I wonder what the ratio between 3.9 & 4.6 is?

I am sure there are more 3.9 phones out there at the moment??

Although there are some bugfixes in this update (link). This does not really explain why it's got ~155MB in size.

I am almost sure this update is because of the SDK to come on march, 6th (link)...

thats a very good question, you gotta think tho at first when iphone came out it was selling like hot cakes, then there came the price cut, then came the new bootloader, next the new 16gb model, and at last all the bricks and replacements? So weh you ask that question you have a lot of things to factor in lol just thinking about it gives me a bit of a headache:p

In 1.1.4 Camera Apps improve a lot!. More quickier and best color match.
Also. 1.1.4 solved my WiFI DNS problem. Now works perfect!.

    Two good reason.
