Default [1.1.4] Temporarily Displaying "G" instead of "E"

I just upgraded to 1.1.4 and now I notice that data symbol temporarily shows "G" instead of "E".

Could this be a glimmer of hope that Apple is soon rolling out 3G to the iPhone market??

I would like to take a picture of this and show it, but it happens only for about 1-2 seconds.

GPRS....hmm, bummer. I had heard some talk about 3G. I guess it was wishful thinking.

As previously mentioned, it is GPRS not 3G.

Default what's the difference between Edge and GPRS?

I also have a "G" now showing up sometimes. I'm in Europe and have a 30Gig per month plan with Vodafone. I was wondering if it's any different if I'm going over Edge or GPRS. I mean will my data/internet plan cover both GPRS and Edge? I guess I could go ask in the shop but they don't seem to really know much at all about anything except the prices of plans.

EDGE is an enhanced version of GPRS. There's not that much difference in speed. EDGE is a tiny bit quicker.
Won't affect your data plan at all - you go from EDGE to GPRS simply because EDGE hasn't been implemented everywhere.

Hmm, strange. Never seen the G, though my carrier doesn't provide EDGE and i'm on GPRS all the time. All i have is a blank box, without any letter in it!

I just get a solid box when I'm getting GPRS, and the E when I'm getting EDGE.

There's a tweak in installer that changes the box to a G.
