[1.1.4] Screen turns to black after a few seconds.
I have been experiencing a problem (once and a while).
I lets say unlock (sometimes even happens when its in lock mode) I’ll go to ‘SMS to view a text message within a second, or two, the screen will go black.
I then have to press the home button a few times (I hear a click) for it to return to the home screen.
After that all is good until it decides to happen again.
Now this happens to me regularly or should I say daily.
I wouldn't mind it if it did not happen about 5 times a day and it always seems like the times I need to put an appointment in without any distractions.
What are you thoughts?
MacBook Pro OS X SNOW Leopard
iPhone 4 16GB
iPad WiFi 64GB iOS 4.2
BlackBerry Curve 3G (9300)
I have the same problem. I had it two times the last couple of weeks. I don't know a solution. It's definitely a software problem.
I'm not going to restore. It would probably help but I'm waiting for firmware 2.0 to come out.
The watchdog probably is killing an unresponsive app (dunno which one) and restarting Springboard.
Does it happen only with SMS app ?
Try to debug and post here the report from the Sticky Thread on the Native Software section.
Posting your phone crashlog here as well might help to expose the responsible app.
i would start with the basics firt, reset all settings, then do as XainLi suggested and generate your crash log, post it and others may help..
i have fixed this prob in the past for several ppl, (a couple restored, and others were clashing apps..)

I just tried to go into Installer and the screen went black.
Before I opened calender and the same thing.
i have started to un-install a few apps that I have on my phone.
I will probably continue until version 2.0 is released (6/27/08?)
Also I might reset all settings but not until I copy all my config down.
After that I will debug... which is?
