Default [1.1.4 OTB][Problem] iPhone does not display carrier logo

    Hi,
Well I just got a brand new US iPhone. I unlocked/activated/jailbreaked it using iLiberty+ (3.9FB downgrade).
I noticed that it would not show any carrier logo using my congstar sim.
I searched a bit and found this tutorial. I did everything I should do according to this tutorial but it still does not display a carrier logo. But edge is working and the custom service phone numbers (like check balance) are also displayed correctly.

There is another strange thing: If I go to the carrier settings it displays me all the carriers except mine (there is an entry with no text which I assume is mine).

You can download the carrier.bundle i am using here
I might add that congstar is using the T-Mobile network, which is the official network in Germany (and yes I deleted the symlink).

    Everything else is working fine.

This Problem really bugs me (I'm kind of an perfectionist).

I would greatly appreciate any help...

    Greats
ramb0 (please excuse my bad english)

You could just use Make It Mine from installer to set your carrier logo, doesn't really fix it but its a workaround.

    Thanks for the tip.
I will use this as a last resort.
But I would prefer a more proper solution.

No money mate. the problem is one setting in the carrier.plist. You used my generator (mentioned it in your post). There is a field where you have to fill in the
"* First character/digit of carrier logo name"
Cause Congstar is a reseller (in your case using T-Mobile), they issue the carriers string that would be "T-Mobile" and not "congstar".

So the easiest way for you is to get back to the form, fill everything like you did before, just at "* First character/digit of carrier logo name" you type in t
    You probably typed in c
The logoname can stay like congstar or whatever you like.

this problem occurs if one is on a reseller like Congstar, Mobilcom and others in Germany

    will work

    best,
    v.

Thx for trying to help (and for the great script).
But it just won't work. I did use "t" as first character this time and did everything according to the tutorial (including the simcard-shuffle).
I even did a restore before doing it, just to be sure.

The Problem remains completely the same (no carrier logo and blank entry in the carrier list).

    My Carrier.bundle.

Hmm, lets try the following to find out, what Text your simcard really issues. The problem now and before was that it used the one from the T-Mobile bundle that came with the iPhone, so you probably saw t-Mobile before you edited anything.
Right now it uses the simlink to the custom bundle and that seems not to work cause of mismatching carrter string.
SFTP into the iPhone and rename the symlink 26201 in /System/Library/carrier Bundles to something like old_26201. Restart the iphone with simcard-shuffle and tell me, what the text is displayed on the top left, right from the signal bars. The first character of that string would be the one...

Hope that works, let me know

I did renamed the symlink and then did the simcard-shuffle.
It still did not show my carrier anywhere. I'm pretty sure that it was no longer linked to the carrier.bundle, because the service numbers in the phone settings disappeared.
So I edited the CarrierName string (in the carrier.plist) to be empty. Then I did the simcard-shuffle. Now when I boot with my congstar sim it displays the congstar logo but only for a second or so.

I will put the congstar sim in some other phone later and see what it displays as carrier there.

Good idea, it sounds strange. Try another mobile. Maybe its the simcard.

I had this problem with Orange in UK.
I have a US iPhone from July 2007.
I installed Make It Mine and set it as AT&T.
Then I installed Customize and installed the Orange Carrier logo. This only worked with AT&T installed under MIM. Although I heard you can also try to type iPod.

Or you can try this method. It may appear daunting, but is actually fairly straight forward.

first of all you need to have a graphic of your carrier, or making any graphic to show, wanna know how to do it?? check here:

    http://www.modmyiphone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1127

After you have the logo, make a copy of it, and name one as
    Default_CARRIER_ATT.png
and the second one should be
    FSO_CARRIER_ATT.png

after you've done that, upload both files to: /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/
and replace them over the originals

then download a patched springboard here
    http://**********.com/files/55713719/SpringBoard
    and place it here:
    System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/
    over the original

reboot iphone, and you are done

    I hope this helps you.
