Hi, I've held off posting for a while because every question that is asked seems to get some smart ass response from a moderator telling the posted to 'do a search' or 'read other threads' or something similar.

But, regardless, I'll give it a shot.

Can I use my iphone running 1.1.4 unlocked with ZiPhone (shock horror!!!!) with itunes if i upgrade to 7.7?

This is a simple question and i'd appreciate a straight forward answer without the online attitude. I hope I'm not being too blunt- but it just seems like if anyone actually talked like some of the 'hardcore' guys on here do in real life they are likely to get punched/ignored/punched some more.

I have a 1.14 unlocked with +iliberty. It works fine with itunes 7.7

doesn't it prompt you to save it where ever you like?

And it's interesting how there appear off-topic replies immediately.

So only one answer to your question came in so far. Have you upgraded to 7.7 in the meantime and can use it with 1.1.4?

if you are not with AT&T or an official first generation operator, don't upgrade. You will get stuck at the activation screen.

No. With the old one I remember it did but with 7.7 it just start downloading without asking where to save the file. I have downloaded 2.0 firware from elsewhere but whanted to have the iTunes downloaded one too to compare.

If you are working with a jailbroken and/or unlocked phone that it is very important the you disable the automatic downloading and installing of updates... regardless of the unlock method, regardless of the itunes version, regardless of everything.

I haven't heard of anyone have trouble with a new version of iTunes (including 7.7) having issues with a jailbroken/unlocked phone. So in short upgrading iTunes to 7.7 should be safe even with an unlocked phone, again just make sure you don't inadvertently download and install new firmware.
