{ 1.1.4} iphone constantly turns off
EDIT: Realized this is a bit long so here is a synopsis of the problem after 1.1.4 jailbreak using Pwnage or ziphone/iliberty. As soon as the screen shuts off for power saving the phone turns off after about 15 seconds unless an input (such as touching the home button) is given. Also the Edge logo is only shown as a white box
More details included below. Thanks
Hey,
I hate for my first post to be asking for help, but I have scoured the internet for a solution to my seemingly unique problem and I am stumped. Here is my story.
I bought the iphone on the first day and had no problem jailbreaking it with the 1.1.1 firmware utilizing the tried and true jailbreakme method or through independence. I have the original 3.9 bootloader. I unlocked the phone using thh AnySim method just fine, no problems so far. I never updated to 1.1.2 because i didn't really trust the unlock method using the patched Anysim and the benefits did not seem worth it. However, when 1.1.3 came out I decided it was worth a shot.
I first used Nate's method, and had a very buggy iphone that would not ring or make any sounds for alarms etc etc. So I restored and used the supposedly magical Ziphone, this left me with a working phone with one fairly major defect. As soon as the screen shuts off for power saving the phone turns off after about 15 seconds unless an input (such as touching the home button) is given. Also the Edge logo is only shown as a white box
So I resigned myself back to 1.1.1 with no problems and decided to wait for pwnage and 1.1.4.
I used the pwnage method the other day, seemingly worked perfectly except with the same results as with Ziphone. The phone shuts off after 15 seconds unless plugged into a power source and the Edge logo is just a white box.
I'm scared that this was probably caused by faulty early versions of either Nate's original 1.1.3 jailbreak or Ziphone and that i will just have to go back to Apple with ym tail between my legs and warranty it. I'm currently abroad using the phone unlocked so I can't test if a legitimate 1.1.4 upgrade still has this problem, or if it something inherent to the jailbreak
So any suggestions? Advice? magic fixes? Condolences.
Thanks in advance, this site has been a fountain of wealth to me. Perhaps now I finally got round to registering I can help answer some peoples more basic questions which I myself have found resources on

Have you tried a DFU restore to the standard 1.1.4? After that I'd give PwnageTool another shot. Or you may have more luck with iLiberty+
Just in case you don't know how to put it in DFU mode..
With your iPhone plugged in to your computer & turned on, press and hold the sleep & home buttons until the screen turns off. Once the screen has turned off, let go of the sleep button and keep holding the home button for ages, until your Mac makes a little alert sound and iTunes pops up saying that an iPhone has been detected in recovery mode. The screen on the iPhone should be black (or white, apparently sometimes) when it's in DFU mode. From there just hit restore and it'll restore it to 1.1.4 (or whatever the latest firmware happens to be at the time).
Edit: And the white box for EDGE might be because you only have GPRS coverage where you are. In the earlier firmwares I believe the box had a G on it for GPRS but now it's just a white box.
