[1.1.4] EDGE Stopped Working After Roaming
Running 1.1.4 (originally 1.0.2) and using Vodafone IE SIM in Republic of Ireland without a problem since I originally got the phone
EDGE (or GPRS in Vodafone's case) has been working fine
Recently travelled to Northern Ireland (UK) and phone roamed onto Vodafone UK and O2 UK, needed to check emails and did this without a problem and even noticed the E icon when data roaming on O2 UK
Problem is that since I have returned home, iPhone will not use EDGE/GPRS, doesnt even appear to try and connect, as reports cannot find server immediately etc (WiFi does work fine)
I have Reset Network settings and entered APN details again and nothing.
As a test I tried another Vodafone IE SIM and it works fine ?
Can roaming to a legit iPhone carrier (O2 UK) have caused this to happen? e.g. is my SIM number stored somewhere within the iPhone and this is either ignoring my APN settings or stopping them for working?
I have searched this forum already and haven't located a similar problem, so any help would be appeciated?

I alway recommend to setup a custom carrier bundle for the carrier you use, in your case Vodafone IE. Then - while at home - it is treated as a "known, official" carrier. While travelling and roaming the Unknown carrier bundle is used, where you may set aswell APn an stuff.
I gues when working out this, your problem will be gone. There are stickies and posts how to create a custom carrier bundle. It wont take longer than 15 minutes to do so for your carrier.

in post 6 there is a link to a webpage creating the plistfiles for you

Spoke to soon, either it worked once or I had forgotten I had WiFi still turned on :-)
Will have to try a full restore and see what happens

I just finished a tutorial in how to create a complete custom carrier bundle, no plist-editing required, check here

create your bundle and apply it according to the readme that comes with it. Will work then.
