[1.1.4][computer internet on iphone]
Hi
i have been searching a lot to find out if i can use computer's internet on my iphone or not via USB cable but i stumbled upon a method to use it through wifi...
as i am using a desktop i dont have any wifi so if anyone can try this out and confirm if its possible or not.
Requirements:
- Computer connected to wired LAN with Internet Access and DHCP
- Wireless Network Adapter serves as WAP
- IPhone 1.1.3 (not sure will work for other firmwares as mine is OTB 1.1.3)
Here's how I did it:
1.) Open up your Network Connections Window (Start Menu->Settings->Network Connections)
2.) Look for your Wireless Network Connection which will serve as the WAP. Right click and go
to "Properties", under the "Preferred Networks" click on "Add"
3.) Choose your own SSID, enter it, and select "Connect even if network is no broadcasting",
then uncheck on "The key is provided for me automatically" and enter a key for the connection.
4.) Click on the Tab named "Connection" on top and check the box "Connect when this network is
in range"
5.) Click on "OK" and you will see an entry under "Preferred Networks" with your chosen SSID.
6.) Now click on the button "Advanced" and select "Computer-to-Computer (ad-hoc) networks
only"
7.) Click "OK" to exit this window and "OK" on the Properties window.
8.) Next, Look for your wired lan and your wireless adapter which you configured (Local Area
Network, Wireless Network Connection), make sure they are the correct one.
9.) You would need to bridge them, select the LAN and the Wireless Connection, right click-
>Bridge Connections, windows will ask you to wait while its bridging them and then the 2
connections will appear under "Network Bridge"
10.) Fire up IPhone, go and configure Wireless connection and search for the SSID which you
configured on your Wireless Network Connection.
11.) If everything goes fine, your IPhone should detect the SSID and touch on the SSID to
connect to it.
12.) Enter the Network key which you entered for your wireless network connection and IPhone
should connect and acquire a IP Address.
13.) Now, you're online!!
Note: Your PC will not indicate that its connected to the SSID when your IPhone is connected, but the IPhone will say its connected to the SSID, not sure iPOST http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/newthread.php?do=postthread
