Question [1.1.4][Advice] Can't restore any firmware, stuck in DFU

I was having the issue of intermittent no service. The last time I unlocked was with ziphone 2.5 earlier this year. I have a 1.1.2 OTB

I thought I would do pwnage. I didn't think I needed to bother with restore mode and went straight to DFU. This seems to have been my big mistake. Now I can't get my iphone to accept any firmware version and the phone will not change to another mode such as restore or normal.

I am definitely in DFU mode, itunes recognizes my phone in 'restore mode' but there is nothing on the iphone screen.
When I attempt a restore of any version I receive error 6.

I have moved usb, tried different cables, restarted, used other computers, all give the same error. I must have attempted 20 times since last night.

No application will touch the iphone because it's in DFU mode.

Does anyone have any advice or tricks other than trying different computers and cables?

If none of these work then I think you're out of luck.

I guess i'm out of luck. I still haven't been able to use an xp machine, but I have tried two vista installations and two macs. one ppc and one intel. numerous cables and new user accounts. uninstalling and resinstalled itunes... yada yada yada

very frustrating indeed. i think i'm resigned to buying a new one. i doubt there is anyone who can repair in bangladesh. at least I'll be able to pick one up on ebay cheaply now that the 3g is released. hype = reduces perceived value in the item i want. yay!.

both winpwn and iliberty give the same thing, that you can't do jack in DFU mode and it should be put into Recovery Mode. I guess the firmware is corrupted somehow and can't go into Recovery Mode, but it doesn't explain why I can't load a fresh firmware...

I do agree, though it seemed good at the time. iLiberty and pwn are much better solutions, though because I had a working system and I couldn't afford the possible downtime I didn't migrate when I could have. Now i'm screwed, possibly because of ziphone, possibly because of some other issue.

regardless, if I could restore to a clean firmware i could load a pwned ipsw and all would be cheery.

damned DFU mode. i assumed wrongly it would be better. =P

does anyone know an app that can communicate with an iphone in dfu mode other than itunes?

Wat helped me is to restore to a newer firmware, most of the times then you don't get a error message. Off course you then also get a newer baseband, but you can then easily restore to 1.1.4 in DFU and replace or unlock the baseband.
