[1.1.3] Voicemail button.
How can I set the visual mail button to my regular voice mail? Number is *111.
Thanks.

if you have successfully unlocked your iPhone, you may have discovered already that the voicemail button doesn't do anything at all. It won't give you visual voicemail, but you can easily get the voicemail button to work using any carrier following these steps:
1. First, take note of what your voicemail number is with your current provider (for example, in Australia the Optus voicemail number is 321).
2. Click on the phone button in your iPhone.
3. Click on the keypad tab.
4. Tap the following code:
*5005*86*xxx#
The xxx is the voicemail number, in our example it will read: *5005*86*321#
5. Tap call.
6. After a second, the code will have been set.
7. Tap now on the voicemail button and it will automatically call your usual voicemail service.

Problem is that my voicemail number is *111 and that method doesn't support the "*". I confirmed that. And even if I just enter 111 in the xxx space. It doesn't seem to be calling anywhere.
Edit: Thanks for your help though.

Depending on the carrier, your phone number doubles as your voicemail number.
Try that

excellent, been looking for this tip but been side tracked getting my phone restored and fixed.
I had the voice mail number as a favorite in the mean time.
These codes "*5005*86*" are there any more that set other functions??
Cheers,
Harry.

The telco might have a short code *111 or a long number ie.g. 027707707 that can be used, check to see if there is one. Also try my suggestion put it as a favorite.

Sure, check http://www.mobileshop.org/usertech/gsmcodes.htm
There you will find more, like fwd to mailbox after certain secs, etc ...
About the other issue - "*111" ... Maybe you could use the carrier.plist for that? I am trying to remember ... sry, it is not helpful at all I guess.
Cheers

useful. Do you know where the iphone codes are that sets them...
e.g. *5005*86 - is that a GSM code or an iphone code?
