the spinning wheel seems to be related to the 1.1.3 firmware ad a given limit to the number of application u can install, ( i think is 80 in total).
I had the same problem and first time i had to recover from 1.1.1.
Now thanks to zibri everything is a lot easier and u can restart the whole thing from a restored 1.1.3 from itunes.
Anyway i've had same problem a second time, but i've seen that unless the endless spinning wheel, the phone was working almost enterely, so wifi was ok and i could connect via ssh and manually delete the latest installed app that caused the problem. after a restart, everything was again ok.
So i had to be careful and only install 'needed' stuff until we get a workaround to this 1.1.3 issue ..

Ok so with BossTool, more space does not equal more apps on a 1.1.3?
    Is this correct?

Also when you say apps does that also include installed books, dictionaries, anything without a icon or a means to execute?

    Thanks
