[1.1.3. soft-upgraded] Several workarounds for 1.1.3. issues after upgrading
I noticed several things when I upgraded my software unlocked iPhone OTB 1.1.2. to 1.1.3. and I would like to share my experiences with you.
I'm in a non-supported European country at the moment, Spain. I have a jailbroken OTB 1.1.2. iPhone and used a software unlock. The iPhone is not connected to an iTunes account yet and wasn't synced yet. So this is the Starting condition (BL and Firmware 1.1.2., phone jailbroken and unlocked).
Youtube bug (Message "Connect to iTunes via Internet bla bla)
This little workaraound worked: After jailreaking and unlocking the OTB 1.1.2., back in 1.1.2 Firmware, and before upgrading to 1.1.3. with the Official Upgrader, just open iTunes and Youtube once in the Springboard. Than use the official installer, choose hacktivation "yes" and restore "no". Youtube will work fine.
Google Maps can't locate your position in 1.1.3.:
This is a guess, because I have to try this again to be sure my theory is true:
When I first upgraded my unlocked 1.1.2. iPhone to 1.1.3. with the official Upgrader, I had used iWorld before to use my spanish SIM card with the 1.1.2. Firmware. When I upgraded to 1.1.3. (hacktivation "yes", restore "no") the locate me function worked.
But I had the Youtube Problem, so I started again from the beginning and this time (hacktivaion "yes", restore "no") I didn't use iWorld before upgrading to 1.1.3. And this time the Locate function in 1.1.3. doesn't work. But I can use the spanish SIM without problems anyway. I can't install iWorld in 1.1.3., I get the message "Your AppSupport Framework is not supported".
So does anyone know if there is a connection between using iWorld before upgrading to 1.1.3. and the Locate function in Google Maps? It is possible that its something else, because when I first upgraded the iPhone, it was also connected to iTunes and had much more software installed. The second time was a "clear" iPhone with just the Installer, oktoprep and bsd subsystem installed.
The Program PDF Viewer doesn't find your pdf's anymore:
The PDF Viewer in its actual version does only support PDFs that are in the directory "private/var/root/media/PDF/". But after upgrading to 1.1.3 (hacktivation "yes", restore "no") all your personal files have moved from the Media folder to "private/var/mobile/Media/" and the original Media folder is deleted. So PDF Viewer doesn't find your books anymore.
To make PDF Viewer find your books again, just connect to your iPhone with SSH and create a simple link in the root folder, name the link "Media", that is linked to the new "Mobile" folder. When you open PDF Viewer now, you see your PDF's again
Thats for now, I would appreciate any help regarding to the google Maps Problem, because starting everything over from the beginning just to get the locate function working is quite time expensive hehe
I would appreciate ever comment especially from people in non-supported countries, what you did to get the locate function work in 1.1.3. (Restore "yes" perhaps? or did you also used iWorld before upgrading? or does it just work without problems and I did sth wrong the second time?)
