If you have bootloader 3.9, you can downgrade both firmware and baseband back to any version. If you have bootloader 4.6, you can only downgrade the firmware but not the baseband.

I am a kinda newbie at this hacking thing so I have no idea which bootloader I have.

I bought it when it was 1.1.1 and used jailbreakme.com to unlock it? Does that help?

CAn you or someone else perhaps tell me how to downgrade? what I do is I go into recovery mode hit the option key"mac os x" and then choose firmwire 1.1.1 which I have downloadet, but after a couple of secs. it interupts and gives me an error 1 or something like that.

    Recovery Mode:

1- OPTION KEY PLUS APPLE or COMMAND KEY this is to choose restore FW 1.1.1(You did only Option Key)
    2.-Jailbreakme.com 1.1.1
    3.-Downgrade Baseband Firmware http://iphone.unlock.no/#how-to-down...1.1.2-or-1.1.3
4- Restore again to FW 1.1.1 (same as point #1)
    5.- Jailbreakme.com 1.1.1
    6.- Done

As I wrote when I try to downgrade in recovery mode, I get an "unknown error (1)" after a couple of seconds which is step 1.

Update: ahh did not see (you did only option key)

But when I hit Option + CMD at the same time the result is the same?

If you had it 1.1.1 right out of the box then you're fine.

Here's the steps to downgrade without getting that error 1

    http://www.tuaw.com/2008/01/16/downg...or-ipod-touch/

When you get 1.1.1 up and running, you can use "Baseband Downgrader" from i.unlock.no to downgrade your baseband to 03.14.08_G.

But the 03.14.08_G baseband is for 1.0.2. You may need to restore to 1.1.1 one more time to get the baseband and firmware to match.

    It's a long road.
