Default 1.1.3 OTB 16BG Problem with jailbreak, stuck at *#307#...

Just got a new 16GB 1.1.3 OTB, and started to jailbreak using hackthatphone.com's guide.

I made a mistake and now cant seem to get the phone to follow the guide properly.

At the point where you are supposed to dial *#307# and the phone rings is where I am stuck.

I dialed this but instead of pressing the x button while the phone was ringing and entering 1 as a character for the next step I accidentally hit "decline".

It was stuck on "please wait" for quite a while and then went back to the main slide for emergency screen. Now when I dial the *#307# it either says please wait, or rings and shows the zero but does not give me the "x" button to enter 1 for the next step.

At the slide for emergency screen it also shows "incorrect sim" and that was not covered on the guide.

Do i need to do an Itunes restore back to 1.1.3 and start over, or can this be salvaged? If I restore it back to 1.1.3 using Itunes will that be a clean slate?

What would be my next best course of action?

    Thanks.

Use the Ziphone method, its quite simpler that that old methode

you have to restore to 1.1.3 with itunes then activate-jailbreak-unlock with ziphone (and why not downgrade the bootloader ? )

Besides, that method you're trying to use will only work in 1.1.1, which is old

I noticed a similar thing when I tried to JB using the jailbreakme.com site.

You DO NOT need to delete what is already there just press decline or accept (whatever it says next) and then you can add the web address to the contacts!

Well I thought about ziphone but if seems like some people have had some real trouble, and I hate the thought of nit just being able to restore and start over, which I might be wrong, but once you mess with the baseband, bootloader, or anything but just the firmware you can't just freshly restore with itunes? Right?

My plan was to use the oldest most proven method, and always leave myself the option to go back.

1.1.3OTB >1.1.1 jailbreak and activate >1.1.2> soft upgrade to 1.1.3 then wait a few weeks until a sim spoofer (nextsim, stealthsim) comes out and then do that.

This way I'd be able to (if anything went wrong warranty wise) worst case take the *sim out and just restore to 1.1.3 with itunes, and sign up for ATT and make my claim or just use ATT if I HAD to. I plan to use t-mobile though.

I tought this would be the "safest" way to go. I don't mind spending the extra $30 for the *sim to be able to go back if I had to.

    What do you guys think?

bobbylight, I think you have the right plan but old school way and Ziphone way is a big ol' argument, so lets not go there.

Spinstorm is correct, just carry on with the tutorials next stage, ring, hold, ring, decline, open contacts etc.

Personally I found the iClarified tutorials to be the most straight forward, try this one.

    Good luck
