[1.1.3 Jailbreak] CREATES MORE PROBLEMS THAN IT FIXES
I have been a proud iPhone owner since the launch and have been tweaking and hacking my phone ever since the 1st jailbreak. We have come a long way since June 30th and I express my many thanks to the thousands of people that make all this possible.
As everyone knows, the 2 different jailbreaks have been released in the last few days and I have tried both of them to try and get my iPhone successfully updated to 1.1.3 but keep running into a lot of errors, so I started looking around on the forums and they are flooded with 1.1.3 jailbreak issues.
Known 1.1.3 Jailbreak Issues:
- Ringtones stop working
- SMS Text Messages are out of order
- Installer gives you "Main Script Error..."
- Google Locate does not work
- Sync issues
- Caller ID doesn't work
- Edge doesn't work
- Third Party Apps don't work such as Customize and Summerboad
- OpenSSH is not working anymore and cannot be uninstalled
- Bluetooth problems not connecting to devices
- Limited file space for applications
Now I know many of these issues have been fixed with patches but at what expense? Depending on your phone you might not encounter all of these issues but it's just too much of a headache.
1.1.3 Firmware Features (Third party apps that do the same thing)
- Re-arange with wiggly icons (Re-arrange icons using customize)
- Mass text message (SMSD can send out mass texts and delete individual ones)
- Google Locate (Same thing as Navizon)
- Create Safari bookmarks on the home screen
If you have an existing iPhone with a previous jailbroken firmware, I strongly suggest that you wait for 1.1.4 Jailbreak or until these issues can be completely resolved for 1.1.3.
So for now, I have decide to downgrade my iPhone back to 1.1.1 which seams very stable for me with all of my working 3rd party apps.
Please let me know if there are any others out there that feel the same way as I do about the 1.1.3 Jailbreak.

I quote 100%.
To my experience, NateTrue's one give more stability once bugfixed, but it's still less usable than 1.1.2
The only problem is that the restore made under 1.1.3 doesn't work under 1.1.2, so I'll lose every sms and call history.
No good.

100% d'accord.
Itīs unresponsible of nate and dev-team to publish such a pre-Beta shit. Haven't read /heard of a single unlocked 1.1.2 phone beeing updated to 1.1.3 and working absolutley flawlessly (without scripting and further hacking).
Seems like big BS to me.

after spent one day trying to figure out how to make 1.1.3 stable and with the same functionaly as i had on 1.1.2 here is the conclusion:
i will stick with 1.1.2 for now..
much trouble for just a few benefits..
as said.. customiza navizon and smsd do the same job very well..

I suggest to wait for a jailbreak with fitting baseband and firmware versions, the weird mix of old baseband and new firmware is the cause of the problems.
Nobody knows if the probs can be fixed, maybe there are more. And why should developers fix problems for this jailbreak while they are busy to keep their sw bugfree in a "regular" environment like 1.1.1 or 1.1.2, not to mention the coming official SDK .
Btw, what about sw unlock? Does anybody have a plan? Neither I want to jump on anybody's nerve nor I 'm a seller sittin' on hundreds of locked phones waiting desperately for a solution, but is it possible to explain the status to ppl who arent encryption experts?
I use the 1.1.2 software since the jailbreak is out and i am very happy with it.

I dont get why these people are whining so much about the bugs and stuff....
First you guys arent happy because it was annouced that the jailbreak was out but they werent releasing it... And now that it has been released you are complaining because of the bugs on it...
God grow up and stop complaining...Or better yet learn how to hack the software yourself and make the programming yourselfs...
If you are going to bitch about everything then dont modify your phone at all or just become a ATT -O2- T-Mobile Germany or Orange customer so you could have a legal phone...
For gods sake grow up all of you...Stop the BITCHING

I agree.
Known 1.1.3 Jailbreak Issues:
* Ringtones stop working <- NO
* SMS Text Messages are out of order <- NO
* Installer gives you "Main Script Error..." <- NO, its becoz people jb b4 they update installer 3.0 b9 to b10!! They just dont read, and rush to jb.
* Google Locate does not work <- TRUE, a workaround can make it work, but its still not using the real method to locate.
* Sync issues <- it is being fixed now.
* Caller ID doesn't work <- I dont have this problem, n there is a fix to that.
* Edge doesn't work <- only tzone, bigboss fixed it already.
* Third Party Apps don't work such as Customize and Summerboad <- TRUE
* OpenSSH is not working anymore and cannot be uninstalled <- NO, Im using the openssh in 1.1.2 from the jailbreak program. Upgrade to 1.1.3 and install bsd 2.0 and ssh has been working since then.
* Bluetooth problems not connecting to devices <- Didnt try yet.
* Limited file space for applications <- Use bosstools to move applications!
This is what I got from official devteam 1.1.3 jb.
Although its kinda suck to have no summerboard.. but I have been using SMB since day 1.. so I have never used the stock look.. so.. well, its like a new theme to me, lol!!
Customize, people say its working with editing systemversion.plist inorder to install it. The only problem is it not hiding apps.. bigboss release an app "Poof", which can hide apps for the meantime.
So for who wants to try the latest thing, its not bad to update. But for conservative, you guys can stick with 1.1.2
I like how devteam release the devteam earlier. So people can help them to discover the problem faster. And we can try the new stuff earlier.

Great post - I was going to start a thread to see what the issues were anyway and if it was worth upgrading.
I think I'll stick to 1.1.1 with the working 3rd party apps

Ringtones stop working - use the devteam jailbreak or copy over 1.1.2 ringtones
SMS Text Messages are out of order - not sure about that one
Installer gives you "Main Script Error..." - use the devteam jailbreak and make sure you have installer 3.0b10 before you jailbreak. Or, chmod +s Installer
Google Locate does not work - does work if you use navizon gps once
Sync issues - move Lockdown from Library to your ~mobile/Library folder, then remove the Library folder from /var/root and link it to /var/mobile/Library
Caller ID doesn't work - works here (Canada)
Edge doesn't work - works here (Canada)
Third Party Apps don't work such as Customize and Summerboad - give the devs some time to update them and they will -- I'm the SummerBoard dev.
OpenSSH is not working anymore and cannot be uninstalled - Use the devteam jailbreak or remove ~/Library/Installer/LocalPackages.plist from your iPhone.
Bluetooth problems not connecting to devices - same issue w/ 1.1.3 legit
Limited file space for applications - This is being worked on, Applications should now be going in ~/Applications
