    Default 1.1.3 and International Keyboards

In 1.1.1 I was able to enable global Japanese keyboard input by following the steps below

    1. Copy the file /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/M68AP.plist to your computer.
    2. Open M68AP.plist, and change the boolean /root/capabilities/International from NO to YES, then save the file.
    3. Upload the modified M68AP.plist to your iPhone, overwriting the original
    4. Restart your iPhone
    5. Go to Settings->General->International and new options should appear.

Can anyone with 1.1.3 confirm if this is still a viable method to get Intl keyboards working?

    Thanks in advance

From what I understand it only offered 3 or 4 languages and I believe Japanese wasn't one of them. Do you know if Japanese is an out of the box option in 1.1.3?

when i went for 1.1.3 i had japanese keyboard, i "disactivated" it so it wouldn't mess with the jailbreak, after my phone was 1.1.3, in config, all the extra entries of international werent there any more but i still could write in japanese, it was only after i reboot for second time that the keyboard got deleted, i think we only need the file for a specific keyboard, and the little "World" button will be able to toggle it when writing, without having to "unlock" the config menu.

EDIT; can anyone upload the japanese keyboard file to try? i already have softupgraded to 1.1.3, i need the file to see if it works without patching, anyone?

I found replacing UIkit framework doesn't work. Anyone can help for more international keyboard?

Have you tried the 1.1.3 patched UIKit?

    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=26538

It will allow one to enable the Japanese keyboard, but I do not know if it works correctly (if all the graphics are there - I've tried and it's pretty strage).

Works for fine for all other western languages though.

    Hi there,

since i'm waiting for already 3 weeks to get a solution from the apply support, i'm fed up now and joined this board in hope to find an answer.
I own an iPhone (T-Mobile Germany, No Jailbreak, 1.1.3). I wanna activate Japanese IME on my iPhone as I send Emails to Japan every day. Is there any solution to activate it without jailbreaking my iPhone. Some guy told me it'd be pssible by using iPhuc. Any idea?
    Thanx for ur answers

No jailbreaking, no changes to the iPhone. You only get what apple gives you

The existing UIKit patch will enable the Japanese keybord under 1.1.3, but then you will have to perform the 1.1.3 jailbreak.
