[1.1.3] A good idea for at&t jailbreak ?
Hi, i am running on a legit at&t plan so would it be a good idea to update to 1.1.3. through itunes so i get the new bootloader and all, then downgrade using the methods posted here and then do the 1.1.3 soft-jailbreak? would that make everything work fine or am i better off just doing the jailbreak from where i am (1.1.2 jailbroken) and then installing all the bug fixes from installer??? any help is appreciated, thanks.
ALso ive backed up all my apps from ssh, i was wondering what the directory is for where i have to put it on the new firmware because i heard it was in a different directory from previous versions. Also does all the media/library stuff such as roms and iphysic levels still go into the same directory as well?

That's what I did.
1. I did an iTunes upgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3
2. Downgraded to 1.1.1 and performed jailbreak following the first 2 pages of instructions at http://www.hackthatphone.com/113/iph...grade_113.html.
I had to run the normal (not 1.1.3 jailbreak) iBrickr's 'boot phone' button to get the phone out of recovery mode once the downgrade was complete. Hackthatphone says you just have to open iBrickr and wait, but that didn't work for me.
3. Used Nate's iBrickr 1.1.3 Jailbreak edition to create the soft upgrade image and transfer it to the iPhone.
4. Installed the Soft Update through Installer as the instructions indicate. It took about 5 minutes, ending in a "Main Script Execution" error. Instead of the iPhone rebooting itself as the instructions say, I was returned to Installer. Assuming that the update had failed, I tried to install it again, but it told me that I did not have 1.1.1 or 1.1.2. So I rebooted.
5. Turns out the install did work; 1.1.3 was running (wiggling icons and everything). No service, yet.
6. Installed BSD Subsystem & SSH through installer
7. Used SFTP to copy this file into /usr/libexec/:
http://rs323.**********.com/files/86377952/lockdownd
(This overwrites Nate's patched lockdownd with the original one. His patch is meant to work with the baseband from 1.1.2, but I now have the 1.1.3 baseband.)
8. Rebooted the phone & connected it to iTunes to activate. Got service!
9. Installed BigBoss's mailfix through installer. You need to add the following repository:
http://sleepers.net/iphonerepo
That was it. I don't seem to have any of the other problems that are being reported. Ringtones, Google Location, Hybrid Maps all work fine. All in all, this was a more involved update/jailbreak than 1.1.2, but similar to 1.1.1 and 1.0.2 (I did all of them as soon as they came out, so the easy methods weren't available). Just had to fix lockdownd and the mail preferences, which were easy. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this upgrade and recommend it to anyone ready to get their hands a little dirty.
Applications & ROMs go in the same place...

thanks, i did everything and most things seem to be working fine other than mail. I installed the mail fix but whenever i try to add a gmail account it gives me a message saying "cannot connect using SSL, do you wanna try to setup without it..." and i click yes but i always get an error and it wont work, any idea on how to fix this? thanks

I haven't had any issue with gmail, but my Google account information is sync'ed through iTunes from my Mac. I'd try that, if possible.

Has anyone else been successful with this lockdownd file?

I wasn't
On 1.1.3 with the Dev-Team soft upgrade, but still have the old baseband. I never could get signal.

at first i had a problem after transfering the new one and renaming the old one where my phone wouldnt boot up, just stay at the black screen with apple logo, but then i found out i forgot to change the permissions of the file to 0777, is that your problem maybe?

0777 permissions seem odd. Why would the original run with such unrestrictive perms? At most I would suspect 0755.

The lockdownd patch listed here fix my phone activation. ty
Just as a note, permissions should be: chmod +x lockdownd (or 0755)
