If this works, it would be nothing short of a miracle, but it would be pretty damn cool.
Hope to hell you've got a 3.9 Bootloader???

4.0.6 is a one way street you wont be able to fix your iPhone if you've got a 4.0.6 bootloader and want to go back to 1.1.2

There is a HowTo posted over on modmyifone.com on how to downgrade and make it work. On one hand, I am scared as hell to do this. On the other, I really don't use that many of the Custom apps except for NES.app so, I would only be losing game play if I upgrade and am stuck in the dark for a month or two.

Brave but i think we're looking in the wrong place. This exploit they used involves Streaming media. There, now its out... they can cry.

oh and a hint. The flaw they've found is ironically in another Apple product.

http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/659761 probably problem is you need to inject code that will eventualy used some other exploit to elevate to root privilages

I really can't understand the dev teams decision. Surely if they wanted to avoid apple patching the exploit they would have refrained from announcing that the new firmware was unlocked in the first place ?

Apple are obviously going to focus on patching any exploits that are found in 1.1.3 regardless of whether or not the details of the exploit itself are announced. The mere fact there is one is going to cause them to work harder to find and patch it.

Why, oh why, did they announce that they had found an exploit ?
