Exclamation [1.1.3] Corrupt FS from Official JB (Missing Free Space)

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but after doing a clean 1.1.1 -> 1.1.2 -> 1.1.3 jailbreak, the system partition seems to contain a corrupt file system.

Running a 'df -h' indicates that the file system is only 260-some MB where the actual partition is 300 MB. The remaining free space is less than 2 MB. We are missing 40-some MB of space.

Running a 'fsck_hfs /dev/disk0s1' indicates that the file system contains an "invalid node structure." This is generally an unrecoverable file system error on HFS+.

After researching the steps in 'install.sh', I would imagine this stems from the fact that the file system in the disk image ('022-3743-100.dmg') in the IPSW is only as big as required (to enable a smaller download). After the installer patches the image, it immediately writes the 260-some MB images to the system partition.

I believe there needs to be a way to resize the file system to fit the destination partition before cp-ing the image to avoid the lost space and possibly the corruption.

The installer script does run 'fsck_hfs' on the image before finally detaching and copying it to '/dev/disk0s1,' but the image is still less than 300 MB. I'm not sure if the mismatch causes the "invalid node structure" or not.

It is already known that the Dev Team jailbreak has some partition size problems. In fact it wastes 34MB, leaving very little space for apps and other stuff.

I do not know a way to easily resize the partition image (Mac or Windows) to the right size.

What I'm trying at this time is to get a disk copy of the image of the correct size, erase it (Disk UTils on a Mac) and use "pax" to copy the smaller disk into the larger one. There is a small difference in terms of used space that I'm trying to sort. Once that's done, it's just a matter of fixing the install script to use the pre-processed image.

And what are Dev Teams doing about it? Does anybody knows?

A fix would be nice, but i'd be accordant to a new 1.1.3 JB version.

    Better both

I do not think there is a way to extend the filesystem on the phone. So a new JB is required anyway.
