Hi,

I have a legally unlocked iphone by Orange in france. It works great and I'm happy I went with paying a bit extra to get some peace of mind when it comes to unlocking.

However I really want to jailbreak the iphone to get the most out of it, but my worry is that I won't be able to go back exactly to the way it was before the jailbreak.

If I do the firmware downgrade, then octoprep then firmware update, If I do a restore will my phone go back to the way it was before I did anything with it?
Still haven't quite got the grasp of this yet.

Also, surely I will not need to activate it or unlock it again (never had to in the first place) since it is a legally unlocked phone? Or do u always have to activate it after a restore?

Would greatly appreciate any help in this matter,

yes. it is safe to jailbreak/activate, since this process doesn't touch the baseband.

You could help us by running Geohot's files and extracting your a.plist so we can try to unlock all iPhones...let me know if you are interested.. no it'll not damage your iphone.

This has already been done,
Go read his blog he thinks this would be an impossible/impractical unlocking method

Not all of us believe it can't be done.. and this is the only way to get more ncks.. by asking people since geohot won't share what he has.

If you can walk me through what I need to do then sure I can do it if it can help get the others unlocked. Got exams this week though, but after thursday of next week I can do it.
