    Default [1.1.2] Changing background?

I've been trying to figure out how to change the background on my iphone, without having to install SummerBoard. I just want to be able to go into settings>wallpaper, select a picture and press set as wallpaper. Is there a way to do this? Everytime I press on "set as wallpaper" nothing happens, except the unlock screen is the only one that changes. Is there a way to fix this? I have a 1.1.2 oob iphone jailbroken

As far as I know, the only way to this currently is to use a 3rd party app like Summerboard or Iswitcher....

Sorry, If it could be done manually I would have done this a LONG time ago...lol

If you have SummerBoard installed, and you want to change the wallpaper that appears in the SpringBoard, change the 'Wallpaper' setting in SummerBoard Preferences to OFF and it will use the same wallpaper for your Unlock screen and SpringBoard screen.

Unfortunately, if you read, he does NOT want to use Summerboard if he didnt have to...

But yes you are correct if he wants to use Summerboard

Yes, I read that part. I was just assuming if he DID have SummerBoard but did not use it because he thought it was useless.

It's not that much space to install SummerBoard... if you just want to use it for the SpringBoard wallpaper function.

I'm in the same boat. SummerBoard seems to consistently mess up my phone and I want a custom background without having to use it. I'm curious if SummerBoard can do it why no one else has figured it out (or why the folks who made SummerBoard can't release just this part without all the rest)? If I could program I would, but I haven't done that in years since the days of TurboPascal
