    Default [1.1.1 OTB] won't upgrade to 1.1.4

im having an issue with an otb 1.1.1 phone that was originally unlocked and activated with anysim 1.1.1

i tried to update it to 1.1.4 and it wont complete. it says prepairing for update and stops.

i used ziphone to try the 'refurbish' mode to try to reset it back to virgin 1.1.1 so i can update to 1.1.4, it doesnt work..

i have used ziphone to update the baseband and reactivate and unlock the 1.1.1 firmware and tried to update to 1.1.4 it wont work.

it just made it 1.1.1 firmware with 1.1.4 baseband. this is where im at now, itunes wont recognise it unless its in recovery mode.

ive never had this much problem with an iphone before.

any ideas on what to do?

    i want 1.1.4 with 1.1.4 baseband

That's pretty weird. I've been messing around trying to get my iPhone working over the last few weeks (different issue to yours) and I've had the 1603 error, among many other errors, come up a few times. I think just trying it again usually works for me. Or maybe trying again on a different computer.

I found something that you could try though (at http://www.iphonefreak.com/2007/07/i...mment-97270016)
Basically, it says to unplug your iPhone, go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Select Apple Mobile Device (on the right) and hit the button up the top that looks like a square and an arrow (restart this service).

I've used those steps on my WinXP box and it doesn't stuff anything up. Whether or not it will fix your problem, I don't know. I'd suggest putting it in DFU mode (either with one of the tools out there or manually) and just hitting restore in iTunes (no Shift/Option-Restore) after you've done the above if you want it to be on 1.1.4 with the right baseband.

Let me know how you go, anyway. I'd be interested to know if those instructions work.

EDIT: And there are a few more suggestions in that link I gave you in the comments section. This one just looked the most promising to me at the time :p
