[1.1.1] OTB : I got an iPhone, now what? (help a newbie)
I got an iphone from a trade with current firmware 1.1.1 week 41. Already been hacktivate, jailbroken and does not require *sim to unlock.
Sorry but this is my first time to own an iPhone. I also never had an iPod before so I'm not familiar with iTunes and how it works.
My question is what is the advantage of going to 1.1.3 jailbroken? Is there a big improvement overall? can i still unlock the phone without using *sims?
Suppose that I want to stay with the current firmware 1.1.1, if i install the latest iTunes(7.6), will it cause problems with my iPhone? i.e. automatic update to official 1.1.3? bring back the activation process (slide for emergency)? locked the phone?
What are the steps or guide to upgrade to 1.1.3 jailbroken
any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks

For a new user I wouldn't just yet a better JB is around the corner so wait and use the time to read the stickys and learn more about the iphone situation.

The new itunes works fine with 1.1.1 and auto updates can be turned off when you a warned of a new firmware just say no and click the tick the box.
