Sorry, I thought you were using windows

try to put in DFU mode
-Hold Home button+Top Button for 10 seconds (until black screen appears)
-Release Top Button, but keep holding Home Button
-Connect to iTunes (iphone shouldnt be connected in the start)
Then you should try to restore again...
-
I can also use Windows...if U could give mme a good Tip
I ve tryed to make it tha way U desribe but it restores and restores and restores for 30 Min...
In the iPhone screen I see the Apple logo and the rotating simbol on the bottom...
and iTunes says: waiting for iPhone.....all the time...and nothing happend for 30 Min....
When I stop the process itunes says Error (9) and the iPhone goes again in the recovery Modus...so I see the iTunes logo on the Phone screen...

If you also use window as me, you can try to downgrade with the ''help'' of ibrickr...
I was having problems restoring to any version, and I could downgrade to 1.0.2, but with ibrickr help, without it I wasnt able to downgrade...
So, you do the following:
-put iPhone in DFU mode (like I said before)
-Do Not restore with iTunes yet, instead, close it after putting iPhone in DFU mode
-Open ibrickr and select: Begin Dwongrade to 1.0.2
-ibrickr will let your phone with a white screen and tell you to restore using iTunes and selecting the file inside ibrickr folder (Dont know if the file really matters, but...)
-Well, the instructions are there... Tell me if it worked or not...
Good Luck

iPhone become iPod
i read some forum that it mention to use iTunes 7.32, and i tried.
on the 7.4.x version, my phone is being recognised as a iPOD touch which doesn't even allow me to click 'Shift' restore, but in 7.3.x,it shows some light as it recognise it as a iphone. you might wan to try this out, might help.
for my case, my phone doesn't even switch on...
