Just to make sure it's not an issue of your/his carrier. Could you put your simcard in another mobile and make him send a sms again?

Ok I will try that today. But I think it's not with the carrier because I have had this same carrier for few years and everything worked fine before I bought iphone.

I tested with the same friend when he was at my place and txt messages worked. I had unlocked with iplus 2.0. I restored my phone few days ago and unlocked with iliberty and just few minutes ago my friend tried to send a message but I didnt receive it. omg I can just think how many messages I haven't received from my friends in the past 9 months

Hi
Also have a search HERE because I've seen a few threads B4 about SMS problems being related to simcard versions not being compatible with the iphone.
Maybe if your friend is on a different network you could swap sim cards and SMS each other to see what happens.

I can see what you mean if some work then my idea is likely incorrect
But its a strange problem I'm just thinking out loud
Maybe you should try a restore like lordofdaflies said and report back with the outcome
