Exclamation [1.1.1] [Problem] Advanced Preferences -> LogPower kills signal strength?

    hi guys,

i've installed a few days ago the Advanced Preferences enhancement on my 1.1.1. fw iPhone.
i saw that interesting LogPower setting and didn't know what it will bring to my iPhone, i was thinking maybe it saves up from the battery life.
well, i dunno if it really does save my battery, but i can surely say that it affects the signal reception strength. now, on places where i normally had no problems receiving signal, i can't hear anything. in some more hidden places at my work, where i had plenty of signal until now, i get the No Serivce message.

i saw that this LogPower button is an orange coloured one, so it gets applied after a restart. this is how i proceeded also setting it to off. after setting it to off, i even uninstalled Advanced Preferences...still getting the same problem: heavy signal loss.

can some1 help me with this one? how can i get rid of this power saving mode i suppose i am in now, and get my normal signal strenght back.

thanx in advance for your help!

i just came back from a fresh restore of the 1.1.1. fw
...unfortunately i'm affraid that i didn't resolve my problem. i am at home now and here i used to have constant maxed out signal. at this moment i kind of have max. signal, but as i see it is fluctuating very hard, dropping for few minutes to 2 lines, then comes back to 4 and the again to 5 (max.).

any1 know which is the indicator where i can check if i am in some strange powersaving mode and how i can get out of this mode and get my signal reader to work on full power and benefit from normal/good coverage. i must admit, lately it's very annoying that when i am in a very little bit less covered zone, i loose conversation quality, sometimes i even have to cancel calls...

    PLEASE HELP!

I think it was a coincidence that the reception problems happened around the same time.

LOTS of iPhones have serious reception issues. Either no network at all in strong areas, or heavily fluctuating or weak signals. I've read everything I can and no-one as yet seems to have a clue what causes this.

What production week is your iPhone? Mine is 48 and is terrible.

I had the advanced settings and it screwed up my carrier image. I restored and the problem stayed. What I needed to do was to reset settings and everything went back to normal so I would give that a try. Settings -> General -> Reset Network settings or reset all settings

@imom: this would be the worst news for me, because at work i really have problems using it. people are already complaining that they can't hear me and that we should interrupt the conversation and try again later...which sucks everyday. as for the week it was built, i think it is week 39 (fw. 1.1.1.)

@thatoneguy92088: thanx for the idea, i've tried first to reset only network settings. atm it doesn't look very good, still not maxed signal where it actually should be. will try also to reset all settings of the iphone.

thanx for your feedbacks already. any1 else has some other ideas?

    well nothing helped for me.
    Did several resets, restores.

But when unlocking with anysim 1.2.1u under 1.1.2 the signal strength is really BAD:

only thing that worked was a 1.1.1 baseband unlocked with anySIM1.1- got full strength.

    I'm stuck now

can it happen that this problem appeared after a period of normal functionality? i mean that i am quite sure that i didn't have this problem from the start. it is so annoying now since i have it, that i woud've noticed it for sure.

so, did something (a component/hardware) break down after a certain period of usage? this would really suck...

so, again, i am desperate. please help me with a hint of how i could get it back working like it did 2-3 weeks ago.

    Long Story

But I had a iphone with official o2 contract for about two weeks and the Signal on that std none hacked phone was shit.. used to keep my nokia 6230 with me when my iphone would say "No signal" I'd put the sim in my nokia I'd have two bars no prob.

So maybe its nothing to do with sim unlocks or apps or providers, could just be the iphone reception/receiver sucks compared to long established phone manufacturers like Nokia etc

I think the apple iphone needs much improvement but I still like my iphone more lol

    hi,

I have found a solution for my problem. Maybe it helps other people on the forum.
Well "found" ... it works, but I don't know exactly why and how.

    PROBLEM:
Always after running anySIM1.2.1u on 1.1.2 or 1.1.1 -> 1.1.2 I had very weak signal and signal loss for NO REASON.
Even using anySIM 1.1 under 1.1.1 baseband brought me to the same state.

I restored many times. Virginized. Several times to 1.1.3 baseband, then downgrade to 1.1.1 etc etc. tried it for about 20 times.

Other Iphones on the same table had perfect signal. So this was somehow related to the unlocked baseband with anySIM1.2.1u. Guess there is a problem with the power management of the RX/TX unit on the phone like another poster mentioned.

    SOLUTION:
I was just to give up, when I played around with the settings of the phone.
On a 1.1.3 jailbreaked with 1.1.2 baseband unlocked via anysim1.2.1u.

    Setting -> Phone ->

I pushed all options without thinking.
After a few seconds (still sticking in the same menu trying to set up Call forwarding or Call Waiting or TTY) the signal came from 1 bar to 5 bars (like it should be)

I tried 2 different providers and the signal is still good !!! And I am happy
Switching the phone off and on doesn't break the signal.

Thats really really strange... but at least it helped. Please report your results.

Only apps installed on the phone where BSD Sub, Community Resources and the YOU TUBE activation fix from source: i.unlock.no ...
So just in case this could be related to the problem, just install the fix.
