Before I get flamed I have searched and can find no definitive answer.

I have one of the first US iPhones 1.0 OTB if I remember rightly.

When updated to 1.1.2 (since firmware is same across countires) will it be possible to purchase an o2 contract and activate it using iTunes? or I suppose using T-mobile in germany?

I know I can unlock using anySIM or IPSF but I would rather do it this way then I dont need to wait for jailbreaking etc before I can update to each software upgrade.


I ask since I have moved to UK and would just like the legitimite o2 contract despite it being overpriced!
