Default [1.0.2] Vertical lines cannot restore

    Hi,

I have an OTB 1.0.2 unlocked using anysim , while trying to upgrade to 1.1.1 i had problems so i restarted the iPhone & my PC (Windows XP & Windows Vista).

I tried to get the phone restored by pressing the home & sleep button. The Phone gets detected by iTunes with a message that the phone needs to be restored before it can be used with iTunes.

When i get the iPhone into Restore mode my screen is blank without the Yellow triangle.

I hold Shift & click on restore (tried both 1.0.2 & 1.1.1 Firmwares), but when it says preparing iphone to restore i see red & grey vertical lines with white background. & after a minute or two i get an error. The iPhone cannot be restored due to unknown errros (1601).

After this the iPhone starts blinking as a flash & toggles between a White Background & the Red & grey lines.

I have done many iphone activations & unlocks. This is the first of its kind error.

Has anybody faced such a problem? Does anyone know the solution for this. Kindly help with the best of your knowledge.

All help appreciated Thanks in advance.

I've had this problem before, and it came down to a broken flash memory.

Apple sent me a new iPhone already activated.

Maybe, but this (1601) Looks like firmware damage or iTunes
    Sorry if i'm wrong

    Solutions:
Completely remove iTunes and Apple Mobile Device support and then reinstall iTunes 7.5

I restored & unlocked an 1.0.2 OTB earlier with the same firmware. To clear all the doubts about the firmware or itunes i re-installed itunes twice as well downloaded th e oldest 1.0.1 firmware from the link provide here in the sticky.Still in vain.

About the Broken flash memory. I am in India & i m not sure if i can ship it to U.S. Any solution that can be worked out from India?

If you have a friend in the US then have it sent back.
If not you can try fix it yourself, if you can source a CommBoard from somewhere.

Given that it in fact is a broken flash memory.

I am not sure if can get the CommBoard from somewhere. Are there any such symptoms for other problems? I mean i need to be sure about the Flash Memory being corrupt.

    Thanks
