A friend has a problem with his 1.0.2.
I don't know the unlock method that was used.
The sms application has over 100 sms and crashes when i tap it.
I updated the installer to add i.unlock.no source so I could get the virginizer but since then the installer crashes.

What are my options?
Will upgrading it to 1.1.1 upgrade the baseband or will some parts of it stay as it was in 1.0.2 and i ll have issues with unlock with risk of bricking it?

I m open to any suggestions!

Assuming that his phone is in good shape otherwise, I would recommend doing a restore to 1.0.2 (DO NOT UPGRADE YET) and just do the usual activate/jailbreak/installer business. From there set autolock to never and run The Virginizer. The restore to 1.0.2 will not overwrite the baseband since it is the same version, so it should still be unlocked (not that it matters at this point because you are planning on upgrading). Once you have virginized do a restore or a DFU restore to 1.1.4. After that I would recommend using pwnage to activate/JB/unlock, but you can use your flavor of choice, just stay away from ziphone if you can. I have heard it can cause a lot of problem. Let us know what happens.
