Just like the title says. At times my phone is uresponsive (like when I slide to answer a call it can take 2 or 3 seconds to respond) and scrolling also isn't smooth at times.

I've even removed all the extra apps I had installed to test and it still occurs.

Is this just bad engineering by Apple or is there something else going on?

You may want to try doing a clean restore on it, and just wipe everything, then just reactivate/jailbreak it. I had similar issues and have had to do that a time or two. I would suggest just being selective about what apps you put on it, as sometimes the uninstall leaves leftovers that ends up goofing the phone up at times.

Did you install 3rd party apps? Those apps are known to cause problems similar to yours...
