I think you should update your iPhone to the 1.1.2 firmware and then install the lastest installer.app
I donīt recommend you upgrading to 1.1.3 since itīs pretty bugged.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Why? As time goes on your going to find very little support for 1.0.2 The benefits of upgrading far outweigh staying on an outdated firmware.
Counting down for iPhone 2012 =)

If he's unlocked on1.0.2 he needs to virginize his phone before updating his firmware. I hope he didn't brick his phone.

IF I was you and you do not want to mess around with virginising etc

I would buy iPhoneSIMFree as it stays unlocked in every firmware update and is seriously less hassle - although it does cost around $50 I believe - check the site.

But then all you have to do is update to 1.1.1 - jailbreak - download IPSF and run it and it will unlock your phone for you! and then you have the problem solved!

Dont' upgrade. Read around a lot or you may have trouble and end up with bricked phone. After reading around for a few weeks then if you feel confident with upgrading do it at your own risk and don't blame anyone. As Far as I know There is nothing worth ugrading to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 or even 1.1.3 . I am still on 1.0.2 and it will give you more space for installing apps than the other. I think all who are still on 1.0.2 must wait for something come up really worthwhile for upgrading. For example if by upgrading I can get gps or video recording I might do that.
